Excluding competition wardrobe, how much would you estimate that it costs to compete at Miss SC/Miss SC Teen? And what do those costs entail? TIA

A hair/makeup artist for the week of the state competition is usually over $1,000. Then there is outfits for appearances, a talent coach, personal trainer/gym membership, walking coach, beauty products, spray tans, etc.

Thank you :) I guess I should have clarified. Wardrobe, coaching, trainers, H&M, spray tan, and any other incidentals aside, if a girl wins or prelim or goes at-large (teen) how much should she expect to pay to be a a part of the competition itself? Are there entry fees or are they simply required to raise a certain amount for CMN? How many ad pages are they required to sell? How much are the ad pages? And are there any other costs associated directly with being a participant in the state pageant? Thanks

Unfortunately, there is much more to it than an entry fee. The entry fee is usually paid by the prelim director. It is very expensive to be competitive.Honestly, to be competitive, 9 ad pages totaling $2,700. This gets your opening outfit and fitness outfit paid. Top 5 for CMN is an average of between around 5,000 to 10,000 raised . To be competitive, some type of coaching which can be hundreds depending on who you use.The week of hotel costs, workshop weekend hotel and tickets,1,000 to 2,000 for HMU and headshots are all the contestants responsibility, too.
[> [> Subject: Thank you. This is the kind of information I am looking for.- CMN/ Ad page requirements & expectations. I've done some non-MAO pageants and would love to try a prelim, but I know the first question my parents will ask is "How Much?" and then the second question will be, "Okay! And what happens if you win and how much will that cost?" Gotta be ready for them!! ;) Thanks for your help

I'd say for a teen to be competitive - headshots, great wardrobe, 9 ad pages, awesome talent, interview skills and top 5 CMNH, hotel fees for 10 days and hair and makeup, then you're looking at around 10K. Now you can save a lot by selling ad pages (one ad page is 300)and 9 of them will get you opening number and fitness outfit. You can also sell community spirit pages, they are $1000 each (10 business cards at $100 each), if you sell one community spirit page you will get a 500 credit towards your hotel bill, if you sell 2 community spirit pages you get 1000 credit towards your hotel bill. All of that can be raised by fundraising in your community. For wardrobe, I think its crazy to spend thousands when you can buy something someone else wore for a fraction of the cost. The big money is CMN and that's at least $4,000 to be competitive. You can also raise that money too, however it just becomes a lot of money to raise in the long run and friends and family get a little weary of giving. Good luck

[> Subject: Its smart to set a budget and plan it all out. It won’t go exactly as planned but it will help you stay on track. There is no magic number. You just need to do the best you can to help your daughter feel confident and look her best.

[> Subject: also sponsor pages are not cheap but they are a great way to help your daughter practice speaking and promoting the system.
