I'm familiar with AS. I'm also familiar with similar but much more inhibiting conditions. Two of my friends have autism, one of whom also has a severe case involving muscular dystrophy. One of my loved ones has hydrocephaly and associated learning disorders.

You have every right to voice your views, as much as I have every right to voice mine (which were not solely directed at you, but a multitude of people; I merely addressed posts made in this thread). As you are well aware, the Internet gives us all the freedom of anonymity, but that anonymity -- and subsequent privacy -- does not go as far as most believe. To borrow a term from The Site Guru, that's the "double-edged sword" of posting to Internet message boards: people don't know you have a learning disability, or that you are physically disfigured, or that you are a federal agent, or that you are a rapist. People only see portrayed images.

You are young and inexperienced, and you defend your position so strongly that you probably won't believe it until you've learnt it firsthand. But I'll say it anyway, in the off-chance that it helps temper your convictions:

Trust is a tricky thing. Be careful of whom you trust, whom you call "friend." I've seen too many lives ruined by the Internet, even ones that were initially created by the Internet. At the end of the day, the computer gets turned off, but the person, and the real world, doesn't.
