Judgement –the factor that played a role in every situation, especially when it came to meeting someone new. At times it could be underestimated or superficial, but for Baylina it was a way to figure out the other person –to comprehend and dissect their motives. Since the moment she stepped into Rome, people had been judging her, while on the other hand Bay had been evaluating them; she had been watching them with hawk like precision, refusing to believe that she was ever safe. War had played an interesting part on her mind and it controlled the way she perceived the world, but it taught her to be cautious of those around her.

While the man sat upon his horse before her, Baylina had been secretly studying him. She wished to know why a man of his stature had even bothered to speak with a foreign wanderer like herself. It confused and intimidated her at the same time, leaving her in a nervous state of mind although she kept her thoughts to herself.

There was a quiet obedience in her movements as she began to follow him without a word; at the moment, she did not wish to challenge his statement, although she had been hesitant. Silently Bay punished herself for allowing a man to dictate her freedoms, but she figured that it was at least safer to allow him the priveledge for the moment. The last thing she needed was to face a death sentence for being disrespectful, although a thought consistently prodded at her mind –if she was dead then she could join Lyra, she would no longer have to run from the distinct burdens of self-blame.

As she followed him to their destination, Baylina found herself in quiet awe as she stared at the castle. She had never been near a building as magnificent as this one, especially since she came from a land where her house was a horse. Then the realization of just who the man was struck her…the king. This recognition did not assist in appeasing her nerves, and she now wished that she had braved a chance at a flighty escape. However, Bay continued to follow him…like some obedient dog, while she contemplated just what she would do to get out of this predicament

//And I don’t want the world to see me\\ Cuz I don’t think that they’d understand\\
//When everything’s made to be broken\\ I just want you to know who I am\\
