...I feel that there are a few cracks in your logic kenamom.

I think that M and S love eachother, but I don't think that Mulder is IN love like Scully is, because of how they both act. Any woman that gets within a mile of Mulder gets the cold shoulder from Scully. She gets snappy, impolite and down right mean sometimes. Fox, on the other hand doesn't act like a jealous lover when Scully meets a guy. He keeps his composure and doesn't flip out like Dana does. She's the one who's IN love, because she's the only one that acts like she has to mark her threatened territory (funny, I thought only us men did that by growling, pounding our chests and peeing a circle around our property :-) ).

I think it's real nice that Scully's happy and that she's where she's supposed to be, but Mulder isn't. He won't be to that point in his life until this whole alien thing comes to an end. It's true that Scully can give him stability, but he won't able to take it until he's finished with his quest.

Although she is more involved in the quest today compared to when they first met, this quest is *Mulder's* and not Scully's. It dawned on Mulder when he saw Scully with that baby that that's the kind of life Scully deserves and that if there's a risk that should be taken to finally putting an end to all this, it would have to be taken by him alone, because this isn't Scully's quest anymore. So he did the right thing and that was to let her go instead of asking or waiting for Scully to let him go.

I think he does feel some kind of guilt towards the fact that he took that kind of life away from Dana, and now he's trying to make amends by ending her ride along here.

Maybe CC did put in those lines to drive us crazy, but I feel just fine, I say that I see them for what they are and nothing more. Now if only there was a way I could make you and Ditched see it too... ;-)
