Not from the region, but I was checking the results from Golden Horseshoe Feis last weekend and WOW... MHA won every champ competition, with several second place finishes too. Mostly curious about the support as the split sole design seems like it would have far less support than a conventional shoe but the marketing claims the opposite. I just want to make sure my daughters feet stay safe especially as she is in her teens now and has had some injuries I want her to be able to dance for life if she chooses to. The only reviews so far are tiktok sponsorship ones so obviously an unbiased review from someone who has tried them on would be worth its weight in gold. thank you.

- Why Do We Continue... (read inside) -- D.M., 02:18:25 06/08/25 Sun
We know there’s cheating in Irish dance. We’ve seen it. We’ve heard the stories. And yet… we continue.
We continue because Irish dance is what our dancers love.
Because the rhythm, the music, the movement — they light something inside them.
Because standing on the big stage, feeling the adrenaline, hoping for a medal — those moments matter to them.
Because they want the chance to win. Because they like winning.
Because when they hear their name called and step onto that podium, it feels like all their hard work meant something.
Yes, they sometimes complain when the results aren’t fair. When they danced better than the person placed ahead.
And yes, it’s time to help them understand:
Placing isn’t the most important thing.
What matters more is how you danced. How far you’ve come.
How you held your composure under pressure. How your technique, confidence, and artistry have grown.
And let’s not pretend: people see. They notice who is improving, who is exceptional, regardless of scores.
Competing in a system where cheating exists is not ideal.
But it still teaches so much — about perseverance, disappointment, resilience, and character.
About how to keep going when things aren't fair. About standing tall in your truth while others take shortcuts.
We CONDEMN cheating. Those who cheat should be ashamed.
To trade integrity for a fleeting moment of false glory — that’s not victory, that’s loss.
So, why do we continue?
Because our dancers have something real. Something earned.
And no score, no politics, no corrupted system can take that away.
We admire those who stand up and speak out — the dancers, parents, and teachers who refused to stay silent.
We admire the judges who choose honesty over influence, who refuse to participate in corruption.
And we hold on to hope that those in power — those who can make change — will ACT.
That they will restore Irish dancing as it should be: a true art and sport for the public, not a tool for personal gain.
To those with the power to change things: please, do something great.
Use your voice, your influence, your authority — and stop this foolishness.
Bring back fairness. Bring back pride. Bring back the spirit of Irish dance that deserves to shine.
To those who feel bitter because of the cheating — take care of yourself. Don't let it take control of you. Don’t let it turn you into someone you don’t want to be. Protect your love for the dance. Let it fuel your purpose, not your pain.

- Calling all high school Class of 2026 dancers!!! -- Slowey Photography, 13:35:05 05/22/25 Thu
Last year around this time, I created the Slowey Photography Senior Athlete Team.
The goal? Create a space to give Irish dancers in their senior year a celebration; similar to what athletes who participate in school associated sports receive, such as senior nights, media days, and spirit weeks.
As a retired competitor who focused solely on their dance career throughout high school, I recognize first hand the lack of celebration and recognition of high school seniors in this sport. Over the past year, 7 dancers from across the nation celebrated their senior year with me; through free shoots, athlete interviews, group texts, and more.
The deadline to join next year's team is June 1.
Get to know the Class of 2025 team as we wrap up the year @SloweyPhotography on social media, or reach out for info to join next year's team at SloweyPhotography [at] gmail [dot] com

I know there is a 6 month ban - is it super strict? I realized that her 6 months would be book ended by a feis in a few weeks and oireachtas at the end. She could skip the feis and compete at the O, or compete in the feis (which is already paid for) and miss the O. Is there any chance they'd give her a few day grace period?

is no one going to address owen luebbers music that he’s just released? little controversial, bold and boundary pushing. go you owen! let people know the truth. this could seriously shake up competitions, schools, and maybe even the judging scene again. some people are going to love it. others? not so much.

- Senior men’s ?? -- Confused onlooker, 05:20:44 04/20/25 Sun
So this year i didn’t dance due to an injury but i came with a friend who’s dancing in senior ladies and i Decided to peak into the senior men’s comp while she was waiting. Did anyone else think the senior men’s recall was all over the place ? Watching the competition many had the same recalls as i was thinking then recalls are posted and 4 of the men didn’t recall but dancers who walked their third steps because they were winded did?! Genuinely confused on watch the judges were watching and its no wonder this organization is falling apart.

- Have come across a lot of the world judges on previous panels, both good and bad. However, have never come across the Canadians or Australian. -- Question, 16:54:25 04/03/25 Thu
Are these judges more likely to give preference to dancers from their own respective countries? I have met previous Australian judges before who gave Australian dancers significantly higher than others in the panel, and consistently gave Australian dancers the 100 over their competitors, regardless of dancing on the day. Any insight into these judges? Should we expect the same?

- Virtual training or in person experiences for core? (Inside) -- .., 07:44:00 03/27/25 Thu
Curious about anyone’s experience with in person (greater NYC area) or online core training for Irish dance. My daughter is a novice dancer, but with core weakness causing poor posture and pronation (resolved medical thing).
She loves dancing, and we’ve exhausted insurance eligible PT. So now we are trying to decide between continuing PT, some sort of personal training, or Irish dance training focused on core/ turnout. Basically we want to be sure she is improving, but sort of move away from the “medical” aspect to something fun! Our school does not do private lessons for beginner/ novice dancers. She is elementary age.
Would love anyone’s perspective or experiences, I know this is very niche! Experiences with some of the online trainings would be great too. Thank you!!

I mean such beautiful dresses and dancers but the constant need to identify a previous globe. Let the dancing do the talking. These dancers don't need to have a globe on each shoulder on their back their chest and the headpiece. Just dance for heavens sake. Ruins the look of the dress also like the front of a geography book with a 3k price tag.
