David James Elliott to star in original movie

David James Elliott has been named "Man of the House" for Hallmark Channel.

The former "JAG" star has been tapped for the lead role in an original movie about a workaholic ad- agency executive who loses his wife and is fired. He soon becomes a full-time Mr. Mom to his two kids and gets help from his son's teacher (Sharon Case).

"House," from Larry Levinson Prods., has begun filming for a 2010 premiere. Levinson is the executive producer.

Elliott is repped by Paradigm and McGowan Management.

- The movie is actually titled "The Rainbow Tribe", and there isn't a firm release date as yet. The movie producer has spoken to several DJE fans, and says he's working on trying to get it released in some form. Several of DJE's fans have been lucky enough to see the movie at a couple of film fests over the last couple of years, and all of them say that it's great - and that DJE is wonderful (as he always is). -- nancyeddy, 22:15:10 09/05/09 Sat

Am I the only one who watched "The Storm"? Can't say that I like DJE's character, but that man is such a good actor and is still so handsome that I'd watch him in just about anything. - I thought DJE's parts were good, lighting a bit dark, but split screen didn't bother me. It was easier to see a split screen and have a conversation via phone than just one screen with one sided dialog. Not that thrilled with the movie itself. - Okay, I watched both parts. I was really disappointed in it all around. At the end of the 1st part is shows the plane going to crash. Then the 2nd part starts and nothing is shown or mentioned about the plane crashing. Also, various other parts, one thing starts to happen - cut to comercial break - come back and you're on to something else. There really wasn't any flow to this show. Plus, I like both DJE and Treat Williams, and they both did play the bad guy pretty well but it isn't a role I like for either of them. Overall I was disappointed in the show. - I haven't seen all of part 2 yet. H/e I did see a few minutes of it though and I found that DJE's character seemed more concerned about whether or not this particular machine really was going to work or cause too much collateral damage. To me, that seems more responsible than TW's character who was out for power and glory. Of course, I only saw a few minutes, but I got the impression from Part 1 that Braxton was fine with the program as long as it would benefit the US, but not injure innocents in the process. Dan Frisch, The Rainbow Tribe's writer and producer, posted a note on the movie's website just in the past couple of days with some encouraging news:

“Hello,
Thank you for your continued interest and support of the film. Distribution news is coming shortly and we expect that the film will be released worldwide over the next 8-10 months-- a theatrical release is planned in the US, news on that as soon as we know the schedule. This website will soon be managed by the distributor, so expect enhancements soon.”

Elliott, meanwhile, appreciated the challenges inherent in his character.

"I'm awfully young for the role," Elliott said. "However, we decided that he was a brilliant military mind, and he rose through the ranks at lightning speed. And as the film kind of supports, he may have got there just a little too soon. Every role is challenging [and the challenge is] bringing nuance and levels to the character, keeping it truthful and interesting. He was a military man, and I've certainly played one of those [on the long-running series JAG], but there were definite differences. And he had to struggle with his morality, ultimately."

- Yes, I really liked it. I'm not a big movie fan, especially sci-fi, but this was so...well, out there, I guess, that it seemed almost like a spoof, or maybe a cartoon. It didn't seem real enough to be scary. Therefore, it was just a good story, with some cute special effects. I am planning to watch part 2, although we'll be away so I'll have to DVR it.         I have kids who are entering the entertaiment business and I understand the process of "getting" cast. A person has to go with the jobs they are seeking. I can see DJE wanting to break the good guy mold once in a bit. He has to adventure into new territory as an actor or stimy himself into a few parts.
