 Not sure this is relevent or useful. Correct me if I'm wrong I think pre97/98, the format of most uni comps were much simpler, and therefore complaints free. Always A, B, C mixed team match (D, E not yet existed). Then there's beginner events, plus Open and Basic events (basic syllabus) for everybody. For non beginner, one has to be at the top 2.5% to gain a place in the final.

In today's format we're giving away tons of trophies, for separate team match and the novice/inter/adv system. It's inevitable not to have some complaints of so and so shouldn't be in what team/level...

It has become difficult not to win something in team matches, for often straight semis in A,B and straight finals in C,D,E... People are getting spoiled:)
