I understand that not everyone participates in forums. If you look at previous posts, you note that I was trying to get another poster to prove their comment about "many many more". In my opinion, that is an opinion, and shouldn't be thrown out as fact unless the poster can back it up.

Now, I'll lay it on the line. Here are my thoughts, in no particular order.

1) almost 2 years ago, towards the beginning of fall, the basketball goals were removed due to some issues at the courts, including some fights and weapons. The removal was after school started, so while things improved, there is no way of telling if the removal of the goals was the sole reason for improvement.
2) Since the goals were returned, there has been little discussion or notification of any issues. This has been 2 summers now, and very little has been said about any issues returning to the amenity area. Not saying they aren't there, but if they are, why hasn't this been communicated? Not everyone goes to the amenity area every day or evening to witness stuff for themselves.
3) last summer the association spent just over $4000 for security in the amenity area. This year's total = $0
4) an amenity areas rules committee was formed and made recommendations for rule changes, hrs., and some other items. These things were never acted on by the board.
5) Several things have been discussed, such as fencing, gating the parking, etc., but none have been actually tried.
6) All of a sudden, the problems are so bad, that the goals need permanently removed, immediately, with no notice or input from the community. I remind you this is after little notice or dicussion of any issue over the past 2 summers.

I don't want crime, drugs, sex, offensive language in the common areas any more then the next person. But I also feel that the board acted prematurely and irrationally, particularily when there are many other options that could be tried first. For instance, the cameras are a good step, why don't we hear how they've been working? And if they haven't, why not? I did see in the minutes about defective cameras and it seems several need replaced.

What about some of the other ideas? Why don't we gate the parking? Maybe provide car passes and tow cars that don't belong? Fence the area, or at least the courts? Remove the tennis court lights so they can't be used to play basketball at night? Post no loitering signs? Hire more security? Some of these things may work, if not by themselves, in conjuntion with others. I keep hearing about how these options have been addressed, but they have never actually been tried. So what exactly does addressed mean?

My personal opinion is that we should be serious about hiring real security, and be willing to invest more then $4000 in a year to do it right.

And one final thing, why would we even look at something like a clubhouse if we really have real problems like this to address?
