It's been so long I almost forgot how to start a new message! I can't believe no one has said anything about the Castle finale yet! Spoilers below if you haven't watched it yet. -- JJ Ronda - Where is everyone?, 21:48:10 05/23/16 Mon [4]
IMO, the Castle finale was a great ep, *if* it had just been a regular season finale. However, given that it was the *series* finale, I was a little disappointed that we merely got a 45 second bandaid to close out an 8 year run. Yes, I know the decision was made last minute and I'm thankful the showrunners even had the foresight to plan ahead at all, but that doesn't make me feel any better about it. It's like JAG all over again. But if I'm going to make that comparison, at least the last Castle episode was actually about the two main characters!

I was most irritated that they skipped from Castle and Beckett lying on the floor dying to a seven years later happy ending. I guess we are just supposed to fill in the blanks with whatever we want? That�s great for fanfic purposes, but I expected better from such a shippery show that promised a satisfying ending. I noticed that while they had initially said the filmed an alternate ending, later articles referred to an alternate *epilogue*. So I guess if the show had been renewed it would have ended with the cliffhanger of them lying on the floor at death�s door. So it really was just an added scene to force an ending. A �bandaid� if you will. While the last scene of them with their three kids (as foretold by the guy from the future) was lovely, it was hardly �satisfying�. I was still reeling from the shock of Caleb Brown coming back from the dead to shoot them in their home with only a minute left in the ep. They had DNA evidence that the burned body was his! Even if the dead body had been someone else, and his DNA evidence had been planted, who�s to say they would have tested the planted evidence and not tested any of the other poor soul�s DNA? Sorry, I just can�t get past that one. Not buying it. And why should I? The Loksat mystery was all over and by that point I was ready for my happy ending doggonnit!

So, last week when the ep was over, I was disappointed, irritated, perturbed, sad, mad, you name it. I was wide awake and it was time for bed. My husband wasn�t happy about it either, but I think I was complaining louder than he was. Lol Then inspiration hit me. The way they *should* have edited the episode, if they had asked me, was to just leave Caleb Brown in the morgue. Castle could be making breakfast, maybe his special dinosaur pancakes, but instead of zooming in on the flame of the stove, they could have zoomed in on the frying pan with the pancakes, then zoom out and have it be seven years later and he�s making those dinosaur pancakes for those three kids. Then show all the warm and fuzzy scenes with the flashback dialogue and stuff. And make it last for more than 45 seconds! Why did they even need to show the part where Caleb shot them? That was valuable time that could have been used to improve that happy ending we were promised. So, in my mind, that is how it happened. No Caleb, no guns, no blood, no unresolved cliffhanger, just a plain and simple happy ending like we were hoping for. And when I get the DVDs, that is how I will watch it. I�ll just skip through those awful few seconds and play it the way I would have edited it.

After I told my husband my version of the ending, I said �There, I fixed it. Now that that�s resolved, we can finally go to sleep!�

- Agree hate the shooting and so unnecessary. This show for the past year has had new showrunners not the creator and part of why the ending was not like it should have been. Not sure who of you still watch Castle but is seems Stana Katic who plays Kate Beckett is not being asked back for a S9. So they plan to go ahead without one half of the leads that made the show. Remind you of anything?

I hardly watch tv anymore -I seriously don't have time - but I caught en episode of Rizzoli and Isles (don't have USA) on a network channel and enjoyed it

so for the last few weeks my husband has been borrowing it from NETFLIX and when we've been watching the episodes. I'm in the middle of season four - looking forward to more of the show

What do I read yesterday- the damn thing's been cancelled after this summer season - sigh

On the bright side they should wrap up lots of stuff in nice bows I hope - but on the down side - I just found a show I enjoy as much as JAG - pooh!

Catherine Bell has yet again hit a home run with her new series Good Witch! She has had one consistent hit after another since Jag ended. I'm so happy for her. The Good Witch Movies were wonderful and the new series which started Saturday night hit it out of the park. The reviews. ratings and fan response is outstanding. - The ratings and reviews came in as "great" I didn't see any negative review at all. That being said it was probably some local review and they can be difficult and hard to please... haha. But it was Hallmark posted all the reviews from the Bib guns and papers and it is a "runaway hit" as they quoted. Hallmark reported that The Giid Witch of numbers and ratings exceeded the movies and the Good Witch is the Highest rated and most watched series in Hallmarks History. Did anyone catch Lady Gaga's Oscar tribute to Sound og Music? I was blown away by her talent! I had read that she practiced with a voice coach for 6 months...certainly paid off. I also see that she has a long list of concert dates with Tony Bennett to promote their album. Bet there will be a big revival for her career. Good for her! Did anyone watch that episode of Outlander with the wedding scene?! Oh, my stars -- it was SO steamy, yet tastefully done. Being a JAG shipper, I couldn't help but have a uick thought back to Harm&Mac and wish we could've had a similar scene, but it was a VERY quick thought. Jamie is quite the hunk! The last episode was a cliffhanger. I lived in Scotland, so I'm drawn to this show even more. Can't wait till Season 2!

- I read the first three or four of the Outlander series several years ago--they're not new, but it hasn't been all that long. The first one was great, and the next couple were very good, but eventually they got tedious--they were very long. I am really upset over the death of Robin Williams. So many celebrities die too soon, that I've become innured. But Robin Williams brought so much joy and laughter to us all, that it's so difficult to know we won' t hear him again with all his talent and silliness.         I saw that too and everything made much more sense - This is a man whose entire way of life involved over the top and constant movement - and if he already suffered from depression I can see where he chosing between ending a life that had already accomplished all he wanted and living life in a chair where speech and motion could quickly become impossible became too much for him. I'm getting sick of hearing people say "I don't watch tv!" And they say it in such a way to infer that they're too good or too busy or have too much of a life to watch tv.

I am busy and I have a life and in my down time, I love to watch tv. I may be tired after a long day and just want to vegetate in front of the tv. There are a lot of good things to watch especially with Netflix. We all have our preferences and they may be different (although we all loved JAG right?)

What's wrong with that?

- It depends on whether the actor wants to be an actor or a star. Both crave audience approval, but "stars" will feel like failures if they are not getting the adulation, notariety, and top dollar. - I think the number of working actors would prove that this decision is not always something easily decided by the actor. Getting work where you can find it would have to be a major part of the choice in what kind of parts someone takes. Only a few big names get to choose what type of parts they play.   - I agree. It must be hard for an actor to play the same part in a play for months on end. They'd have to find ways to make the performance look fresh every day. As for film, many actors enjoy playing bad boy/girl roles because of the stretch. I can't imagine playing some real life evil person. it would be hard to find sympathy inside for your character, without making the character sympathetic to the audience. Been bingeing on "Bones" on NetFlix..... -- The Chief, 19:42:59 07/03/14 Thu [22]

I know there were a lot of JAG fans that transferred over to "Bones" after JAG ended. I'm zipping thru Season 5 right now.

Took me most of the first 4 seasons to really get into Booth, and tho I will never feel the same about him that I do about Harm, I'm really coming around to all that Booth has to offer. End of Season 4 and the beginning of S5 really drove the point home, especially with the Booth/Bones connection. It was kind of like watching The Baby Deal, Adrift 1, Lifeline, Ghosts of Christmas Past, Adrift 2 and Silent Service all smooshed together! And unlike JAG, they "go there" with the relationship stuff. Quite refreshing after the "buttoned up" nature of JAG.

JAG will always be my favorite, but I'm thrilled to have discovered "Bones". Also, I discovered that David Borneaz's father was a local weatherman in the Philly area through most of my high school and college years (and beyond, tho I think he's retired now), so that was kinda cool to find out. They even have him do a cameo in a S5 ep that I never would have noticed if I hadn't been on IMDb earlier in the week.

So any Bones fans, chime in!

- Members of this board got me hooked on Bones and then Castle. I enjoy them both however they just can't compare to JAG. I don't know what it is about JAG, the stories, the characters, the fanfiction the discussion on this and other boards (during the show's first run). Do I wish JAG had been more like Bones and Castle with the main character plot lines - yes. However then we would not have gotten some of the great stories that took the characters where TPTB won't. TPTB put in two hot characters, and teased us about the ship, which was intensely dishonest just to keep us hanging in there.
