Yeah, I get that. Ive been reading this board for a couple months now. Its complicated to read actually, the way its set up.
The thing is, some of the things he told me, and stuff I saw, its hard to come to terms with the fact that anyone would care. We were friends. He lived not far from my apartment in London. I lived at 54 Warwick Road, he was at Courtfield, just east of Earls Court Road. He used to call me in the middle of the night if he was feeling badly and Id go over. He would cry a lot.
But this thread is about demonizing Brian so I kind of want to stick to topic. I dont believe he was murdered, okay Ive established that. As far as beating Anita, I observed him punch her in the mouth once, for saying something really filthy about him which I refuse to repeat. Problem there was she goaded him, and would not stop. I think she was trying to push his buttons to get him to hit her, since the look on her face after he did was one of pure glee. I dont know how else to describe it. She just stood there with a bleeding split lip and grinned. Ive had too many altercations with her and will say I have never been able to stand her.
Where I came from? Im writing my autobiography and it takes place in London and Marrakech from 66-69. I met Brian in 67 just before Anita left him, and as hes part of my story, Ive been thinking about him a lot, so I searched out forums. Ive kept all my memories of him inside all these years, now I feel I want to share some of them. His death hit me really hard, especially considering I saw him just a day or two before, and after Hyde Park, I couldnt stay in England another minute and moved to the States where I was born.
The thing is, truely a lot of the stuff that has been written about him, and Ive never read any of the books, is just not the Brian I knew.
Lets see if maybe I can help you all understand him a bit better.
