It is a shame that the people who stated Air Niugini have passed on and a new group who are not dedicated to the same stardards of quality have taken over. Air Niugini was one of the first "Free Enterprise" companies to begin operating in PNG after WWII. Like all free enterprises they have to perform or they go out of business. Recently Quantas added another flight from Brisbane to Port Moresby. There was a reason for this. They know there is trouble with Air Niugini and they are filling the void. My problem is, how safe am I going to feel getting on a piece of junk held together with wire and rubber bands when I want to fly from Moresby to Lae? Quantas doesn't fly there. There is no major highway between them so travel by car is out of the question. Someone in the government had better step in and do something or everyone is going to be back to walking over the hills again.

If a nation doesn't provide good safe airlines and other means to move around the country, then they will slipped back to the 18th century real fast.

Maybe this is a good time for some entrapenaur to begin a cruise ship line to coastal cities. Soon that might be the only way to get from here to here.
