Someone's been tampering with the Billies' stage decor and it could be the Green Team and their visiting relatives who are so noisy and sloppy, WalMart wants their double wide moved out of the parking lot. The hay bales, the barrel and the two old rakes have disappeared and in their place is a flat bed cart stacked high with a large trunk, a bass with a black cover, various suitcases, a large washboard with a couple of cowbells, a good sized saw, and a golf club -- all lashed together with heavy ropes like the ones holding up the Billy sign. Perched on top of all this is a large moonshine jug marked with two X's. Obviously these items belong to the relatives who are in the process of leaving the premises. THANK GOD they are not taking the blue/green (and sometimes purple) psychedelic curtains and the 400 pound "Billy Hill and the Hillbillies" sign. (See this week's A-51 "Performance Pictures"). BTW, the stool is there for Billy to sit on when he gets disney from Puddle Prance.
Overheard at the "Pirates' Lair" ....
The pirates are so happy they're on Tom Sawyer Island and not at Disneyland where there are too many animals running around. Not only that, the pirates think Disneyland is owned by two mice, one named Minnie and the other named Bernard or Sebastian.

Yes, Billy Red fronted the Billy show Saturday, his first time with the new curtain. When asked how he liked the new curtain, Billy said "What curtain?" However, later, in a written statement issued by his PR man, Billy said, "Performing with this curtain is by far the hardest thing I have ever done". During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to think and I believe that I am learning and growing from this experience."
Billy John David, the acoustic guitar virtuoso, made a rare appearance away from the Green team, bringing a pleasant surprise to all those who can't go to the 'Shoe on Thursday and Friday when he usually performs. BTW, when Billy plays his fabulous guitar solo, HE gets to have the gold curtain as HIS backdrop, so you see it pays to practice.
The best way to see the pirate show on Tom Sawyer Island is to rent a wheelchair -- only $10 plus a refundable $20 deposit when you leave the park. There are no seats for the show, so bring your own, get to the island around 2:40pm, go to the right, take wheelchair lift up to the first level, park your chair next to the steps, at 3pm the Bootstrappers appear on the level above you and you will enjoy the pirate who sings in a deep gravelly voice and plays the concertina while another pirate who sings and tells jokes comes down to the first level and banters with the kids seated on the concrete. Lots of good-natured fun .... and then at 3:25pm Cap'n. Jack arrives to fight over the treasure map, wins said map while clinging to the flag pole of a sunken ship and is narrowly missed by a cannon ball. See pg.2 of this edition of A-51 for action shot of Jack. From your wheelchair, you will have an excellent view of all the proceedings.

LAUGHING STOCK
My favorite desperado BlackJack (Ken) was selling Girl Scout cookies out in front of the 'Shoe before he was rudely interrupted by the Sheriff who thought he was up to 'no good', so BlackJack tried to rob the customers of the 'Shoe but he couldn't do it ... he was 'no good', just like the Sheriff said.
PIRATES LAIR
There's a 45 minute show over on Tom Sawyer's Island --four guys with great pirate voices (would remind you of the Poxy Boggards but without the naughty bits) sing pirate songs and tell jokes. After that, a very convincing and charming facsimile of Cap'n. Jack Sparrow arrives for a sword fight over a treasure map with the exciting music from the "Pirates" movie playing in the background. You can also see the duel from the shore as Jack and his adversary duel back and forth on a ship's plank. The rafts move very fast and carry lots of people and it wasn't a long wait at all.
MICHAEL
On Saturdays, Michael, formerly the improv pianist from DUH, plays the Ragtime Piano at the Coke Refreshment Corner on Main Street. He's frequently visited by Mary Poppins and Bert.

Comin' down that railroad track, it's the Orange Blossom Special, and it now runs right by the Miner 49'ers shack near Grizzly Peak -- slows down a bit, probably so it can take the curves 'round the mountain, and has a pleasing melodious sound to it. The Miners sang the words to the song and people came from far and near for the festive occasion. Papa Jed sang "I'm my own Grandpa" and told us where the Miners get their picks, axes and shovels -- at an auction held by a guy in Arkansas AND Jed treated us to a song about that very auction. Jed danced with everybody who passed by and his enthusiasm was so spiritually uplifting, people in wheelchairs got up and walked and toddlers in strollers jumped out and danced. The Miners played "Hey, Good Lookin'" as a tribute to Jed. Eric added to the levity with his latest joke -- Eric's lobsters won't share. "Why's that?" asked Jed. "Because they're shellfish" said Eric. "Selfish?" asked Jed. "Yep, shellfish" said Eric.
What is with that sign at the Horseshoe? When the stage lights shine on the blue 'curtains', they turn a sickening yellowish, greenish blue, and then there's all those ropes attached to the sign making it look like it was dredged up out of Davy Jones' locker. And there's too many curtains -- wall to wall curtains. The whole shebang is ugly, cheap and obnoxiously distracting; makes Billy Hill and the Hillbillies look like something you'd see at that other park. Blue is NEVER a good color, anyway -- it gives people the 'blues'.
On your way out of DL as you walk down Main Street, be sure to stop and look up at the windows above the bakery right next to Carnation Cafe and you will see Disney legend Wally Boag's window with his name on it. The inscription reads "Golden Vaudeville Routines - Wally Boag - Prop." After all, Wally was a Billy -- Pecos Billy.

Long overdue for an overhaul (and some new overalls -- those overalls are so old they could get up and walk away by themselves, except they have no body), "Puddle Prance" now includes tap dancing thanks to the Billy with the fiddle.
Another number being revamped is "These Boots are made for Walking", with Billy suddenly going for a walk. No one knew where this was going until at one point he pulled up one leg of his pants and revealed -- his bare leg! What? In olden days a glimpse of stocking was looked on as something shocking, but now, God knows, anything goes.

Living in their double-wide, strategically parked in a WalMart parking lot, the Billies are able to keep their finger on the pulse of the common man. You know the saying, "As AMERICAN IDOL goes, so goes the Nation".
Billy Duane has discovered "Pop! Goes the Weasel"!
Billy John David, humorist and guitar player, told us about being out in the countryside and seeing a sheepherder with a flock of sheep, so Billy asked the sheepherder if he could correctly guess the number of sheep in the flock, would he give him (Billy) one of them -- and the sheepherder said "Sure". So, right off the top of his head, Billy guessed 287 and got a sheep. Then the sheepherder asked if he could guess what Billy did for a living, could he have his sheep back and Billy said "Yes", so the sheepherder sez to Billy, sez he, you are a hillbilly and work in a show at Disneyland. "That's amazing", said Billy, "how did you know that?" and the sheepherder said, "Well, if you'll put my dog down, I'll tell you".
Billy Bass provided the maniacal background laughter (still under development) and bass slapping, where appropriate.

Nothing could be finer than to be in Anaheimer with John and Arshag, the two itinerant musicians that liven up Downtown Disney every Sunday. After their warm-up session with Arshag playing guitar and singing, and John waiting for his fiddle to warm up (can't play a cold fiddle, you know), they started their show. Being a windy day, they decided it would be nice to have a kite flying competition and Arshag told all those who wanted to participate to step up and pay their fees. They played my favorite, "Margaritaville", and lots of old favorites and some new favorites. When they played their world famous medley about the cotton fields, Arshag said to imagine a tornado blowing through the hills back home and, sure enough, you could hear it in their speakers while they played. The boys were rewarded with standing ovations, walking ovations and running ovations -- Oh, the hilarity!
Over at Grizzly Peek (that's right, where you go if you want to take a peek at the Grizzlies -- Mr. and Mrs. Grizzly), the Miner '49ers were also hilarious -- Denny said he came from Dawson City and it's so small .... (how small is it? asked the Miners) -- well, it's so small they had to close the Zoo because the snail died. Grizzly Dave stepped up to the bass and said when he was in Dawson City, his hotel room was so small -- (how small was it? asked the Miners) -- so small, when Dave got into bed, the doorknob got in bed with him AND he had to go out in the hall to change his mind. Not to be outdone by his boys, Papa Jed sang a song about a boy from Arkansas, but that snail joke perplexed Jed so much, he couldn't stop talking about it .... said he'd heard of a one horse town but NEVER a one snail town. I do declare, Jed gets better looking every time I see him. Yes, Eric and John-John were also there and Eric told a joke that was so funny, I forgot it.

The President and the King
The historic 1970 White House meeting of Elvis Presley and Richard Nixon will be commemorated in a special exhibit opening on Elvis’ birthday, Monday, January 8, highlighted with the sartorial choices of the President and the King.
Opening day events include a lecture by special guest Egil “Bud” Krogh, the assistant to President Nixon who staffed the Elvis-RN meeting and recalled the events in his book, The Day Elvis Met Nixon, writing: “I had prepared a memo for the President with a summary of Elvis’ letter and some talking points for their visit, but who knew where this was going to go? We got the memo back from Bob Haldeman – he’d written on it, ‘You Must Be Kidding,’ but approved the meeting anyway, and I called Elvis back over.”
Krogh’s lecture begins at 10:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public.
On special loan from Graceland, the exhibit will highlight the black velvet suit, boots, wing-collared white shirt and gold, diamond-studded belt worn by Elvis Presley during his White House drop-by December 21, 1970. The statesmanlike gray suit and tasteful tie worn by the 37th President also will be displayed.
Elvis would have been 72 on January 8, and President Nixon 94 on January 9. The iconic photo of their White House meeting is the most requested image from the National Archives.
The King requested the meeting in a hand-written letter on American Airlines stationery, which he presented to a startled guard at the northwest gate of the White House. Dear Mr. President, he wrote: First, I would like to introduce myself. I am Elvis Presley and admire you and have great respect for your office . . . Sir, I can and will be of any service that I can to help the country out…
The display also will include the gifts exchanged by the two iconic figures, from Elvis a commemorative World War II Colt 45 pistol in a presentation case, as well as family photos, and from RN, a set of Presidential cufflinks and an honorary Bureau of Narcotics Special Assistant badge requested by Elvis for his collection.
The exhibit closes April 9, 2007.

After fiddling the Orange Blossom Special five times a day for God knows how long, Billy Fiddle can no longer concentrate and has lost his train of thought.
Billy Elvis, when not going bananas (or is it bandanas?) over a member of the audience, is quite taken with TXT messaging and the intricacies of cell phones. Isn't science wonderful? -- even a hillbilly can operate a cell phone. Why just today, Billy found that you can't hang up 'mad' on a cell phone because there's no receiver to slam down. Leave it to Billy -- after all, he doesn't make felt hats.
I heard that Ken, Kevin and Rob were the Laughing Stockers today, but because the handful of porch seats for the feeble, infirm, weak, frail, disabled, incapacitated, doddering, tottering, old, elderly, aged, and ancient were all taken, I was unable to watch their performance.

Even though the Billies could take us to Santa Cruz, they won't, because they don't want to (according to Little John). Instead, they took us to the Mountains of Santa Monica.
Little John announced to the audience the Billies got the idea for adding risque choreography to their Mountain Music Medley from "Dancing with the Stars".
As an added embellishment to his BIG number, John David played a bit of some haunting Spanish guitar music before segueing into "Classical Gas" .... NOBODY expected the Spanish Transition!
Jennie, bright as a penny, picked from the audience to play the little fiddle, came prepared for her ten minutes of Golden Horseshoe fame with her own photographer. She was so perky (dancing up front and center while fiddling), Little John told her she should learn to cut loose.
Billy Bass and Billy Duane, performed the Orange Blossom Special, and it was so special you could just see the oranges blossoming.
John David, known for being ahead of his time, already has his New Year's Resolution for 2007. He's going to steal some poor guy's shoes and walk a mile in them -- Now, that's funny!

The new sound system is SOUND-TASTIC! Billy Bass played fiddle for the Orange Blossom Special backed up by Rick on bass and it was special and it blossomed and it was ORANGE-tastic. John David's guitar solo was guitar-tastic and his blues harp solo was harp-tastic.
The show took on a French Connection when a lady in the audience said she was from Paris, France. Little John's comment: "Who cares?" However, we were then bombarded with French jokes: Little John said he would have to go to France to solve the riddle, 'if I divorce my wife, will she still be my sister?', Little John COULD take us all to Paris but he doesn't want to, and they added the risque cory-ography of the French dance, the cancan, to their mountain music medley (for the French ladies in the audience who were checking them out). I think a French lady played the 'little fiddle'.
Not to be outdone, John David bought plush lime green French carpeting for his French bathroom (isn't that what you call them?).
All kidding aside, the front doors of the 'Shoe are fine, and they did a really nice job of painting the outside of the Horseshoe. They took away some benches on the porch of the 'Shoe, please put them back, they are needed for the handicapped, and there were quite a few people greatly disappointed to find there was no LaughingStock on Friday.

As of today, 9/19/06, it has the Billies performing at 3, 4 and 5pm through Sept. 27th (presumably outside), then dark on the 28th, and finally on Sept. 29th performing at their old scheduled times five times a day, but has the Horseshoe closed all during October and November!
I give up.
I called the Disney info line and they said the outdoor location will vary depending on what else is going on at the time.

Papa Jed and the Miners '49ers took advantage of the gorgeous weather to take a run down Grizzly Peak and visit with the folks in the valley. Several people mentioned to Jed that they would usually be over at the Golden Horseshoe Saloon, but because it was closed, they came over to see 'what's what' at the Miners. Jed told them that Billy Hill and the Hillbillies were in Gnashville living in their mansion called 'Billywood'. An interested party asked, "Billy would do what?" and Jed said, "Billy would do just about anything!"
All joshing aside, Jed introduced the Miners (GOLDminers, he calls them): 'Eureka' Rick on fiddle, 'Whistlin' Rick on banjo, John-John on Dobro and filling in for golden-voiced 'Grizzly' Dave was 'Grizzly' Barry on bass.
Opening number was 'Blackberry Blossom", next John-John's BIG number "Panhandle Rag" with fancy footwork by Jed, 'Whistlin' Rick's REALLY
BIG number "New River Train", and last but not least, Jed sang "Dooley" about a guy who had eluded the local constabulary, "What's that?" asked the Miners, Jed explained "He ran from the cops", Miners still didn't get it, so Jed told them to "Read a book!"
Squatters' Rights had three Daniel Boone wannabes in coonskin caps trying for the prize (very nice hats, BTW) and the show ended with Chip and Dale, those two internationally famous rodents, holding hands and dancing with the kids. Yee-Haw!
ALADDIN ....
Big surprise at "Aladdin" -- Jeremy Carter of D.U.H. and LaughingStock fame played the part of Iago the Parrot. "I'm a whole new bird" sang Jeremy
before he ceased to exist. I think they took him offstage and shot him.
LAUGHINGSTOCK....
Mike (the handsome but stupid Sheriff) -- how stupid is he? According to Black Bart (Ken), Sheriff Mike went hunting one day, saw some tracks, followed them not knowing if they were deer or elk tracks, and was hit by a train. I think the Miners also know the Sheriff. Sam was played by Danny.
THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE SALOON ....
There's a big brown curtain covering the front porch section of the 'Shoe that includes the entrance doors, and looks a little like a building being fumigated. I don't know if it's being fumigated but something should be done to rid the place of all those beetles.

During past closures they performed at another stage in the park. Going dark was a possibility but they were still showing up on various schedules. Well, the shoe has dropped and it does look like the show will simply go dark for the month of the venue's closure rather than finding a temporary home for the act. But don't worry, despite the disappearance of other live acts in recent months, there is currently no reason to fear their permanent departure."

Sad but true, Pluto no longer qualifies as a planet and the Billies wanted to pay tribute to their old friend Pluto by incorporating some Pluto choreography into their Mountain Music Medley. "We love you Pluto!" said Billy Little John and then the danse began, (women and enfants cautioned to cover their eyes because it is a bit risque) and with 'here a kick, there a kick', there were beaucoup kicks for everyone.
Billy Bass performed his 'Wa-hoo' version of the Orange Blossom Special where he yells 'wa-hoo' while fiddling -- he went to the Hillbilly School of Music.
There was something different about Billy Duane today, I wouldn't have recognized him if it wasn't for his spectacular bow balancing trick.
Little known fact about Billy Little John: He can play the fiddle holding the bow backwards!
Time for the Hillbilly Stunt Band and Billy warned kids not to try it at home -- too dangerous. Billy said they once had five Billies but lost one during a performance of the Stunt Band, leaving them with only four Billies. When a child in the audience asked "Why?", Billy said "You'll figure it out on the way home".
Rick subbed for Billy John David.
OUSIDE THE 'SHOE, Sally May did her impersonation of Zira, while her daddy the Mayor charmed all the ladies with his good looks, and Clem was hounded straight to Hell by Sally and her dad.

Update for July 24-30, 2006
...We mentioned this last week, but so many emails have come in since that it is worth repeating. Disney's Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular is going dark beginning on September 11. However, at this time there is no indication that it is a permanent closure. Existing crew have been told that the temporary closure will be used to clean and repair sets (including, hopefully, the flying carpet effect) and that new cast is being auditioned. The show is expecting to reopen on October 1.
Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular dark September 11 - October 1. Rumors of permanent closure appear unfounded as new cast members have signed contracts through April 2007.

'Every dog has its day', or so they say, and today two classy dogs (a couple of CHAMP assistance dogs) walked into the 'Shoe -- wearing shoes! -- settled down in the front row, and sure enough, Billy (animal lover that he is) was only too happy to play the fiddle for them. The music was for their ears only, but Billy informed us he was playing some really good stuff.
Billy wished a Happy 4th of July to all the people in the 'Shoe visiting from the UK (some more of that hillbilly humor we have all come to love) and then to bring a little 'fireworks' into the 'Shoe, the hillbillies played the rousing 'Battle of New Orleans' and the '1812 Overture', both at the same time (with added choreography). Everybody got a kick out of that one.
(There was a strange and unnatural sighting at the 'Shoe -- Yes, I kid you not --The Claw!)
OH, WHAT ELSE? Oh, here you go!

Rebecca: 185 stale candies walk into a hip-hop bar and the bartender says "we don't serve stale candies here" and the 185 candies said, "That's alright, we're with the wrapper".

It was so hot that Papa Jed said whoever turned on the humidifier, could now turn it off. The Miners 49'ers should have stayed up on Grizzly Peak today because it was a steam bath in the valley. Jed wanted all the new people to meet 'Eureka' Eric, who told of his latest discovery -- the early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese (Jed told everybody they would have to think about that one), Uncle Bob (from the Eastern Seaboard) whose mandolin was carved out of a hickory stump (that sounds familiar), John-John aka Yup, and Grizzly Dave, who came to supper and stayed on and on and on -- but wait, Golden voiced 'Grizz' sings for his supper and surprised everyone by singing Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" inviting everyone to join in. Suddenly, there was a 'mandolin incident' -- Uncle John had to leave for a spell because he had a rusty G-string but returned just in time for Eric's big number "Down on the Bayou". Papa Jed played the spoons, then rounded up the kids to play the washboards telling them they could 'earn while they learn' .... the Paparazzi and the Mamarazzi took pictures of their kids .... Chip and Dale came running down the Grizzly trail ....
from "GNASHVILLE" to DOWNTOWN DISNEY ....
John W. Marshall and Arshag Chookoorian (Gesundheit!), musicians whose names are synonymous with country music worked everyone into a froth (actually it was the heat wave) with their fiddle and guitar playing. A young woman danced to several numbers in spite of the heat (she's been there before) and Arshag imagined Downtown Disney was Woodstock and he could see cows and other barnyard animals (NOW you know how hot it was). Arshag told a lot of jokes and said he would keep telling them until someone bought a CD. Immediately, there was a stampede of people and barnyard animals to buy CD's. John told people they should sing along in their car to their CD's but warned them not to dance in the car. He said he can't sing in his car because it's a Hummer. He also forgets himself from time to time and follows young women while playing the fiddle. The guys are often rewarded for their efforts with standing ovations, walking ovations and stroller ovations from the audience. Everyone in Downtown Disney is quite taken with them -- residents of Disney's Grand Californian frequently come out on their balconies to listen.
THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES ....
At the Horseshoe today, the Billy Elvis fashion show featured the latest thing in neck scarfs which he shared with selected young ladies. Unlike Oprah, he didn't bring enough for every lady in the audience, but not to worry, there are plenty of them available around the corner at the Little Shop of Horrors.

It was a touching reunion -- Papa Jed and his family together again!
'Eureka' Eric, so called because he is always discovering something new, reported his latest discovery: "Don't sweat the petty stuff and don't pet the sweaty stuff" (Jed says Eric has a million of these). "Smiley" Bob spent two years at Juilliard, two years at the Berkeley School of Music, and two years in San Quentin and he would like everyone to know he didn't do it! We all know by now that John only says 'Yup' and maybe you didn't know that Grizzly Dave just showed up for supper one day and has been with Papa Jed and the Miners 49'ers ever since. Papa Jed borrowed a fan from a lady from the desert and went about fanning all the fans. The Miners have a big umbrella to stand under to keep them out of the hot sun, but mad dogs and Jed went out in the midday sun and Jed danced and played the spoons.
Golden voiced Grizzly Dave sang "Rocky Top", the national anthem of the state of Tennessee.
DOWNTOWN ....
John and Arshag kept country music alive at Downtown Disney and played the "Irish Washerwoman" over and over because they wanted to play it really fast, and they finally played it so fast, I didn't hear it. John was so tired, he went to bed at 10 and got up at 10 only getting 10 hours of sleep (in the metric system, of course) and he also lost sleep because he was worried about the Irish Washerwoman. John has a dog worth $1000 that is part bull. Arshag asked what part of the dog is bull and John said the $1000. (I assure you, these jokes would go over very big in the Ozarks). Arshag wanted everyone to know the jokes were not on their CD's. Oh yes, one more -- when asked what's the difference between a fiddle and a violin, John says the fiddle burns longer.
FRONTIERLAND .... Did you ever notice how fashion conscious the Laughing Stock folks are? The Mayor of Frontierland wears a bowler hat and so do the Horseshoe robbers! Robbers in bowler hats -- is that what you call Stockwork Orange?
Some never before seen relatives of the robbers were there to egg them on: Larry, Moe and Curly (but many will tell you Shemp was the best) and Johnny Cash! These robbers are well connected.

AT THE 'SHOE ....
Now comes the hard part! Billy Ringo now says "Quiet!" when they make fun of his Yellow Submarine; we are told Hillbillies rock like madmen, in fact they're downright maniacal (in the way that they rock). I hate to say this, but one of the hillbillies thinks his name is Ferdiliza. It's quite sad, almost tragic, but what do we know of hillbilly ways?

Sung by Arshag of Arshag and John, two itinerant musicians of humble beginnings, who somehow made it to Downtown Disney. Arshag whose name is synomymous with country music was mentioned in Billboard as the #1 musician with the most CD's yet to be sold -- while others get Platinum, he gets Dirt. Arshag wrote "On the Road Again" for their good friend Willie Nelson and his half brother Ricky, but was somewhat bewildered that Ozzie and Harriet never mentioned Willie. The audience was asked to imagine there was a 70 piece orchestra in the huge planter behind them while they played their numbers, an orchestra that was not too happy, somewhat annoyed, wondering 'what's with these hillbillies?' Besides a large wheelchair and stroller crowd, there were the young folk, and a delightful group of girls from Tennessee requested "Rocky Top" and got so carried away by the fiddling and guitar-ing they sang and danced along with the music all over a wide area of Downtown Disney.
WHERE'S PAPA JED?
The Miner 49'ers had to struggle along today without Papa Jed, but you could tell by the looks on their faces they were mighty worried. First off they played "Salt Creek", one of Jed's favorite places. Next up, Buck Owens' "Put Me in the Movies" because Jed has always threatened to run away to the movies. Halfway through the song, Eric asked "where do cows go on Saturday night?" and the others didn't know -- so Eric said they went to the moooooooooo-vies and Grizzly Dave told him "don't milk it!" Then it was "Sweet Georgia Brown" with John on Dobro because he knows she's Jed's lady love. Grizzly Dave announced Bob would do the next number about the sinkle things in life (what's a sinkle?) -- "The Bare Necessities of Life" because Jed has a 'thing' about bears and likes to report on their whereabouts. Golden voiced Grizzly Dave sang "Fox on the Run" because Jed is faster than a fox and last they all played "Foggy Mountain Breakdown". Case solved! Jed's horse and cart must have broken down on Grizzly Peak due to foggy weather.
OH NO! Not another Horseshoe robbery!
Yep, but our handsome Sheriff (who has an eye for the ladies) caught the adorable robbers just in time. Relatives of the robbers, Liza and Minnelli, Kurt and Russell, Jim and Carrey, to name but a few, were there to cheer the robbers on.

MEANWHILE ....
The hillbillies did their Beatles 'thing' with Billy Ringo screaming "Shut up" when the others made fun of his "Yellow Submarine", and Billy Paul remarked how much he looks like Paul McCartney when he wears his wig, especially when he looks upward and shakes his head from side to side. Not only that, when he's Paul he gets mobbed, and when he takes the wig off and he's Billy, he gets mobbed, too. (Of course, that's just whacky hillbilly humor).
Then, suddenly, the billies went into a huddle and Billy announced that even though they were NOT going to do something, they WOULD do it after all (because it turned the audience into animals) -- CHICKEN LAUNCH! Billy Banjo played his "Chicken Launch" music while they all 'buck, bucked' and the chicken flew over the stage in a perfect 45 degree arc and crash landed on the stage just a few inches short of a booth. Billy declared the 'launch' a success, everybody relaxed, and soon the Orange Blossom Special came chug chugging along (Woo, Woo!) and then the Devil went down to Georgia (Wah-hah-hah-HAH!) .

AT Downtown Disney I stumbled over a couple of country comics (two escaped hillbillies), John W. and Arshag, who also play fiddle and guitar and sing. According to John W., Arshag is a singer, song writer and guitarist ordinaire. They played and sang those old time country favorites, "I'll meet you in the Spring if I can get through the mattress" and "I'm so lonely in the saddle since my horse died" as well as less popular songs like "On the Road Again" and "Orange Blossom Special". And if that wasn't enough, they also sold delicious home made cookies (CD's) -- Yum!
OVER at the Horseshoe, the robbers showed up again and to be perfectly frank, they are as adorable as the Sheriff is handsome (Frontierland is undoubtably influenced by Hollywood). This being the weekend, the extended family of the robbers were out in front of the 'Shoe and we were introduced to them: Liza and Minnelli, Jim and Carrey, Paula and Abdul, Steve and Martin, Rachel and Dratch, Maya and Rudolph, Terri and Hatcher and course, Uncle Bernie of the infamous nose picking accident. Faith and Charity, minus Hope were also there. Earlier, Sally May appeared and dominated the scene as only someone of her size and stature could (Sally could almost be the Disney Tower of Terror dressed in Disney clothing).
Players: Ken (Sally, robber), Danny (Mayor, robber) and Mike (Clem, handsome Sheriff).
MEANWHILE, inside the 'Shoe, fiddleliszt Billy Fiddle once again brought the Orange Blossom Special into existence and his train 'thang' blew away the unsuspecting people sitting in the booth directly in the path of the oncoming train. Billy Anders' jaw was on the floor as usual. Billy Banjo sang "Ghost Riders in the Sky", Vaughan Monroe's legendary hit from 1949 that topped the "Hit Parade" for months to come.

Papa Jed: "These boys are the Miner 49'ers, in case you're wondering who they are". (Miners played on the front porch of the Rushin' River Outfitters today to get out of the hot sun). (Gone but not forgotten were Grizzly Dave and Yup). Replacements: Billy Banjo and Billy Anders.
'Smiley' Bob and 'Eureka' Eric (there's something about the way he MOOves) were also present.
Billy Barney:
"We have decided to add cory-ography".
"Cover your eyes little girl" (when bending over to tie his
shoelace and later when the bow went up his nose).
"The bow jumped up my nose like it had a fast pass, can
anyone see the hidden Mickey? -- Yeah, there's one over
there, too".
"I've heard of your beer" (to people in a booth who were
from Corona).
"The Orange Blossom Special is a train that goes from New
York to Florida carrying oranges that blossom and are
special" -- (There, I said it).
Lady in audience to Billy Barney: "You'll get your pants wet" ( when he
announced Puddle Prance).

It's hard to enter the Horseshoe without first stumbling over Sally May (Frontierland's most famous SPINSTER), her father (the MAYOR), and Clem Clodhopper (Frontierland's only BACHELOR -- everyone else has been taken). Sally brought along her wrecking ball (I mean her reticule) and when she swings it at Clem, he runs for the hills. That thing is heavy! You'd think Sally was hoarding gold in it. ( Of course, we all know that Sally eventually 'lands' Clem by subterfuge, trickery, chicanery, duplicity, fraud and her Daddy).
When those two pesky varmints showed up to rob the 'Shoe, they pretended to the Sheriff that all the people in front of the 'Shoe were their relatives and went about pointing them out and naming them -- Liza and Minelli, Matthew and Modine, Kirstie and Allie, Frankie and Johnny, and Uncle Bernie (but they don't like talking about Uncle Bernie ever since the nose picking incident).

INSIDE THE HORSESHOE, the hillbiles played hillbile games. In one of the booths, a guy named Junior was having a birthday and simultaneously was growing a goatee. First, Billy Kirk wanted to know if Junior was named after his father (was his father also named Junior?) -- then Billy decided that Junior's goatee was bugging him so Billy Fiddle went offstage and came back with an electric razor (I'm surprised hillbiles have electronic appliances, one would think maybe they shaved with a flint rock or a piece of broken glass) and Junior accepted the razor and attempted to shave off the goatee but it didn't take it all off -- a few hairs were left and all the Hillbiles thought Junior looked much better and agreed that it was the most weird thing they had ever done and you can say this for sure about the hillbiles -- they have a lot of GALL!

and don't the Miner 49'ers know it! Papa Jed says the gold don't just jump out of the ground so after working hard, the Miners like to come down from Grizzly Peak and visit with just plain folks.
'Eureka' Eric, fiddler and sometime comedian, told Jed he discovered there are two things he can't have for breakfast -- lunch and dinner!
John-John AKA 'Yup' was along -- he don't say much, just mostly 'Yup' and play the Dobro.
Papa Jed told how he rescued Grizzly Dave from a bear trap when he was just a young'un, and how once he was grown he took to playing the bass like a red neck to a bowling shirt!
And last but not least, 'Smiley' Bob, guitarist and possessor of a sunny 'disposish', got a big welcome from the crowd who yelled out 'Howdy Bob' (Jed told them to say it). Said Bob to Jed, "I think they like me".
Then they got down to business, and played a song called "Dooley", all about a guy who got into trouble with the local constabulary. "What's that mean?" asked the Miners. "He ran from the cops", answered Jed.
They all played and sang "The Bare Necessities of Life" (not to be confused with bears) because they had no phone, no radio, no cellphone, just had Telebob which worked out fine; all they had to do was tell Bob and he would go out on the porch and tell everybody.
Golden voiced Grizzly Dave's solo was "Hey, Good Lookin'!" and then it was on to play Squatter's Rights, which according to Jed has a real life historical corrolary, but the Miners thought he said a 'hysterical coronary'. The Miners feted the winner with "Pomp and Circumstance" and he got to sing with the Miners.
All of a sudden, Chip and Dale came 'round the mountain to dance with the kids and by that time a huge crowd had gathered as the fame of the Miners had spread near and far throughout the land -- well, .... DCA Land.

'Eureka' Eric fiddled and sang "Act Naturally" from Toy Story. To everyone's surprise he asked "Where do cows go on Saturday night?" and the answer came back (as no surprise) -- "To the MOO-vies!"
Next up was golden voiced Grizzly Dave who sang "Last Thing on my Mind". To Dave's surprise, Dave spun his bass around.
They all sang "Pig in a Pen" and then it was time for the "It's a Washboard After All" number. Surprise! -- Papa Jed called it "The Mother's Day Rhythm Section".
After playing "Dear Old Dixie", it was time to call for Chip and Dale who were mighty surprised when they arrived to hear everyone singing "We'll be doin' the hokey-pokey when they come".
Back in FRONTIERLAND, Sally May appeared with her trusty reticule in hand and bashed Clem with it whenever he said something she didn't like. You go, Sally!
Man's Best Friend was in the audience at the HORSESHOE today and Billy responded by playing very high notes on the fiddle.

In his quest to find someone to play the 'little fiddle', Billy Little John found a guy in the audience reading -- "Pardon me sir, I hope we're not disturbing you while you read your newspaper", said Billy and then mumbled something like "It's good you're not checking me out". It's so traumatic for a hillbilly to find someone reading because, as everyone knows, hillbillies, to a man, do NOT know how to read. Billy selected a charming young lady named Marisel to play the little fiddle; however, he was so flustered from his encounter with the man reading, he asked Marisel "Do you play the piano?" (instead of "do you play the fiddle?") Turned out Marisel didn't play either piano or fiddle and Billy admitted they didn't care, anyway.
Another 'little fiddle' player named Maria inspired Billy to sing "Maria, I just met a girl named Maria" in a rich, juicy baritone. And then there was Rochelle .... who travelled from Milan to Minsk.
Earlier, Billy Duane, after warming up on the fiddle, asked the rhetorical question, "How come it's so hot up here with all these fans?" He then proceeded with his death-defying speed fiddling of the Orange Blossom Special.
Billy 'Wahoo' Bass provided all the 'wahoos' and 'woos' for the show (as only HE can) and Billy John David played his show-stopping guitar solos. (He's also regressed back to the days of worrying about his bathroom carpeting and walking a mile in another man's shoes).
Out in front of the 'Shoe, the ONE, the ONLY, Sally May, through a strange twist of fate chose bachelor #2 to be her husband, because bachelor #3 did not know how to call pigs. (Too young).
Oh, what else? Oh yes, the town drunk is bilingual and can say "I'll drink to that", in either English or Spanish. The Horseshoe robbers have been reevaluated and are now 'America's Sweethearts' because they sell Girl Scout cookies (to help the Scouts) and if they steal from the patrons, it's OK because all proceeds will go to the Scouts).

"Blackjack" and "Nameless", two desperadoes, are Frontierland Enemies No. 1 and No. 2. Their latest cunning plan is to sell Girl Scout cookies and Schnickerdoodles to patrons of the Horseshoe, thus duping the Sheriff into thinking they're really goodfellas. Taking advantage of the Sheriff's absence, they tried gaining access to the Horseshoe on the upper porch, but our savvy Sheriff was 'on to them' and exposed them for what they really are -- one, a sniveling crybaby and the other a complete idiot, and saw to it they got their just desserts (I mean deserts).
Players: FRANK (who gets to play the hero/Sheriff because he has seniority), Mark and Matt
Meanwhile, inside the 'Shoe, the hillbillies, who never seem to know anything about what's happening outside the 'Shoe, played two songs at once -- the 1812 Overture and the Battle of New Orleans and you may ask how is that possible? The trick is they're both played in the same key (or so we were told). The audience was very appreciative but one man kept yelling out unintelligible things at Billy Kirk, so Billy Kirk yelled unintelligible things back at him (you had to be there).
You may not know it, but the hillbillies write their own shows! They write them .... they just don't write them down.

Haven't seen the Miner 49'ers for quite a spell and was gratified to see they was still around. First off, Grizzly Dave sang "Pecos Bill" and then begged and cajoled Papa Jed into singing "Dan Tucker" (Grizzly's favorite song) which got Jed to reminiscing about his Mom. (See, even the Miners know Mother's Day is just around the corner). Anyway, seems she knew Dan Tucker and she said he was so ugly he could make a train go down a dirt road -- according to Jed, Mom either was or wasn't big on using superlatives -- whatever! So, sing it he did and he knew all the words, which is so satisfying.
Then it was washboard time. Every washboard was taken and the washboarders sang and danced to "It's a Washboard After All" -- that tune is so familiar, wonder where I heard it before?
Dr. John on guitar sang "Memphis, Tennessee", John John on Dobro sang "Skip to My Lou" (still No. 1 on the Grizzly Peak Hit Parade for the last 100 years or so).
Last song, sung by all, was "Comin' Round the Mountain" which at some point became "Calling Chip and Dale". Chip and Dale heard the call, came running and everybody lived happily ever after.
MEANWHILE, outside the Horseshoe, the town drunk has learned to say "I'll drink to that!" in SPANISH! What's next, the National Anthem? (Hola, Esteban!)
Inside the 'Shoe, there are HILLBILLIES! RUN FOR THE HILLS!

There's a new Sally May -- she's called 'Salzilla' and she's so HUGE, she could take over the Golden Horseshoe Saloon, Frontierland and Clem in one fell swoop. During their performance in "Rodeo and Judiette" Clem wanted to know why they couldn't do "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" with himself as the 'good', Sally's father as the 'bad', and guess who as the 'ugly'?
Watching the shenanigans in front of the 'Shoe, the town drunk could only say "I'll drink to that" no matter what anyone said or did. He said it so often, Sally's father told him he needed to get into a program.
I'll drink to that! Let's all drink to that!
Meanwhile, inside the saloon, the Hillbillies once again picked on someone in the audience to play the little fiddle. As fate would have it, it was Devon's turn for her 5 minutes of fame. Handed the little fiddle and told to place the bow on the strings, she was told she was on her own. Pointing to the strings she asked Billy Little John if those were the strings. Billy said if you can find any others, let me know. But she showed him -- she fiddled so fast she broke one of 'em.
Billy 'Wahoo' Bass has a razor strop attached to his bass.
Billy Duane delighted everyone with his parlor trick and Billy John David told a story about their 'Mom' (Mother's Day is just around the corner). When they were 12 years old, the three of them wanted to get something nice for Billy Little John so they went out and bought him a guitar. They told their Mom to look at what they got for Billy and she said it was the best trade she ever saw. But B. Little John got the last laugh and if you want to know how, go see the show.
Now, where did I leave my drink?

Undeterred by a seemingly indestructible 5 o'clock shadow, Sally was never lovelier or more seductive. During "Rodeo and Judiette", Sally told a guy named John, selected from the audience to play the 'bear', there were lots of rooms in the park named after him. A girl in the audience, whose boyfriend was picked to be one of the blindfolded suitors for Sally's hand, almost died laughing. (I'm sure by now you have guessed who played Sally and who played her father, but I don't know who played Clem -- Sorry!)

Sally's father is a case unto himself being a rehabilitated bank robber and now mayor of the town. So can you blame poor Sal? After once again patiently standing (SRO) through Sally Mae's play, who should show up to rob the Horseshoe patrons but the two Frontierland desperadoes, Ken and Mike, who bit off more than they could chew, tangling with the new Frontierland Sheriff, 'Just' FRANK.
Meanwhile, inside the 'Shoe, the Hillbillies extolled the virtues of good ol' mountain dew, spiritedly singing about it with indescribable special effects (I think I heard 'gluck, gluck, gluck') but they performed it well (after all, it is their job and what they do).

Happy New Year to all out there. As the new year approaches My wishes and the wishes of several others i have spoken with is to freshen up this area 51 site in general. Several suggestions brought up at an informal lunch were.
1. Less pictures of sub Bilies and those not actively in the cast. or if there are going to be a lot of Evan Marshsll just give some equal time to others ( also better resolution to the photos.) 2.Stale writing. It is all starting to sound like one person over & over ( very mom & pop , by todays web standards,freshen up eliminate the message board (which is suspected only 2 or 3 people write to anyway)can peoples personal links(some of which do not work or are not currently active. 3 get some new writers... come on Dave Letterman does top ten this is nothing new.Picture of a toddler belongs on a personal web site for family ( most consulted did not care to read or know what the baby was doing now, again this goes back to the mom & pop feeling.) Please look over other Disney related sites and fan club sites for some new blood ideas. Hopefully you will print this in the hopes that others may rally to the cause and try to breathe some life back in to a site that use to be fun but had become outdated, repeative and just plan Billy dud boring.

Two desperadoes, namely Ken Cassidy and Mike the Kid, tried to rob the customers of the GHS (again?) Thanks to Frontierland Sheriff Mark I, (a man of mettle), law and order was restored.
Oblivious to the shenanigans outside the Horseshoe, the Hillbillies inside the 'Shoe were in high holiday spirits stomping their feet to the OBS and leering at people in the front row (as they are wont to do), but in every Hillbilly there is the dream of being a cowboy (the 'American dream' for a Hillbilly) -- the open range and skies that are not cloudy all day is something every Hillbilly yearns for so they played and sang "Ghost Riders in the Sky" the best cowboy song that ever was, I kid you not!
Getting back to Christmas, the Horseshoe audience was certainly hooked on that levitating holiday tree.

My sister Sharon provided Christmas dinner to some 20 odd people - and that was just the immediate family! Some were Jewish, some Christians, and the rest didn't care. After the sumptuous feast of ham and deep fried turkey with all the fixins, decadent desserts of death by chocolate chesse cake and fruit tarts, the majority gathered out in the garage to play poker, drink beer and, get this, the "men?" smoked cigars! Sharon insisted they keep the door from the garage to the house closed, but Tom and I called out our good-byes anyway and drove away to look at Christmas lights instead.
May everyone have a blessed and prosperous New Year!

A GHS holiday tradition, the Hillbillies' 'found' Crimmiss Tree hangs resplendently from the ceiling above the Golden Horseshoe stage bringing hope and joy to the weary downtrodden masses. With the lighting of the tree, appreciative 'oohs' and 'aahs' are heard from the audience-- the Hillbillies then perform their Puddle-Prance around the tree with one of the Hillbillies being especially careful not to step on Pooh. As usual, the Puddle-Prance goes swimmingly until near tragedy looms in the form of a wayward bow and an unsuspecting nose. But somehow, it works! The bow is chastised and put in its place and the hapless Hillbilly, freed from the tyranny of the bow, continues on his merry Hillbilly way.

Billy Barney, no exception to Eric's Rule, led the pack today with his world famous impersonation of the King of Rock'n Roll, Barney Fife, and had no trouble finding a lady in the audience to 'woo' and be 'wooed' in return.
In keeping with Eric's Rule, Billy Bass let loose his world famous blood-curdling maniacal laugh, not just once, but twice, as a Christmas bonus.
Eric would heartily approve of Billy Duane's world famous 'bow on the chin' balancing act (trick!) and would certainly clap along with Billy's OBS.
Which brings us to Billy John David's world famous Christmas guitar solo of "Greensleeves" (Eric's favorite) and "Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland" (Eric's favorite). Billy John David is one of the "Three Wise Guitars" that followed the Star.
Billy Barney beseeched Santa NOT to be late -- let's hope not! (I hate to see a grown hillbilly cry).

For those who didn't know, Tom came back from Kansas with the flu and has been home from work for two weeks. He was genereous enough to share it with me and I was out most of last week. As Tom was contagious, we saw no one and went no where except to the doctors and pharmacy. Some friends from church did a small shopping for us as we were both too drugged to drive. Blessedly, although we're still on some meds, we're both returning to work tomorrow. My work is having their Christmas lunch at Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney on the 16th (at last note)n and we'll probaby wander into the Park later. We trust everyone else is having a better HOldiay season!

Marshmallow, the Grand Marshall of the Thanksgiving Day parade, perched high on his very own float accompanied by school children, rode triumphantly down Main Street, Disneyland, USA. Walking in front of the float were Chicken Little, Donald Duck and other feathered Disney characters. Confetti streamed from the rooftops and the crowd was very, very pleased. Later, at Big Thunder Ranch, in their enclosure, Marshmallow and fellow turkey, Yam, received much attention from visitors and seemed to enjoy being asked the question, "What is George Bush REALLY like?" Marshmallow and Yam both gobble and shake their feathers in unison, which caused one viewer to comment, "They're doing a turkey dance!"
In the enclosure right next to the turkeys are Santa's eight reindeer who stood all together in a clump facing away from the people staring at them -- and I don't blame them.
Outside the Horseshoe, those two wild and crazy guys, FRANK and Ken, tried once again to rob the patrons of the Horseshoe, only to be thwarted by our fearless Sheriff Mark I, who ran them out of town (or at least out of Frontierland) but I have a feeling they'll be back.
Inside the 'Shoe, once again for the holidays the Hillbilly Christmas Tree can be seen. I'm sure one day it will hang in the Smithsonian alongside Mr. Rogers' red sweater and Jerry Seinfeld's 'puffy shirt'.

No, it's just Sally May (FRANK) running along the floorboards of the Golden Horseshoe's front porch to make her grand entrance in "Rodeo and Judiette", her very own play (written by her -- or as her father (Danny ) says, it's just someone else's play with some of the letters changed). On hand was Clem (Jeremy) and a sassier Clem I have never seen, don't know how Sally puts up with him. Do you know what he said about Sally? Well, he said she made Winston Churchill go bald! Meanwhile, inside the 'Shoe ....
"He is NOT normal!", said Billy Little John pointing at Billy Bass.
And all the signs were there -- his maniacal laugh heard more and more frequently, dancing up a storm with his bass, AND calling Billy Little John, "Dude". Next thing you know, he'll be memorizing jokes out of "Captain Billy's Whiz Bang".
The 'shy' Billy, John David, told us when we got home to take out from under the bed the guitar we've been keeping there and learn to play it. He gave us all guitar lessons on how to do just that -- first the base line, then the chords and lastly the melody. He played "Blue Moon" and "Classical Gas", the latter so appropriate for the Golden Horseshoe Saloon/Chili Parlor.
That old smoothie, Billy Duane, before firing up the OBS, treated us to his trick of balancing a fiddle bow on his chin (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more!)
When it came time for the Stunt Band to perform their 'stunt', Billy Little John made a public service announcement that Camera One was in the front row ready to record anything that went wrong, like the time Evil Knievel tried to jump them! Then Billy John David told about his bathroom carpet which so MOVED Billy Little John he couldn't speak. And when John David told us once again about walking a mile in another man's shoes, Little John got a faraway, wistful, philosophical look in his eyes, only to be brought back to reality by a man in the audience who said the 'Cinderella' joke was better than the 'walk a mile' joke. The little fiddle was played by lovely ladies who were each rewarded with their very own packet of Parmesan Cheese (autographed!) and invited to 'call' Little John, presumably at their convenience, (he's 'in the book', ladies!)

The Disneyland site lists the Golden Horseshoe as "closed for bar reconcept" However, times are still listed for Billy Hill performances? Does anyone have information about this?
On the Disneyland website it is listed closed from 11/28-12/9. However, Billy Hill still has showtimes listed, so I'm not sure what the deal is with that. Is there somewhere else they could possibly perform?
It's too bad you weren't able to see "The Golden Horseshoe Revue". I really miss that show, and it was Walt Disney's favorite attraction.
I don't understand the reason the administration of Disneyland under Pressler made the decision to close the revue. I can remember always needing reservations because of its popularity.
Hillbillies must be cheaper, but they definitely do not fit the saloon.
Still, you'll appreciate the space, itself. It's another tour de force of Disney set design with interesting chandeliers and a large mezzanine. But, Disney needs to bring back the can-can girls and the vaudeville, perhaps, in a fresh and original way.
The entertainment department should think of something special. Perhaps, Laughing Stock & Co. could take residence there and do something creative and funny; I'm always impressed with the group's improvisational performances outside the Golden Horseshoe.

We shall all have to wait and see.

Dozens of chickens, hatched in Pennsylvania, shipped by a Brooklyn wholesaler and now confined in stainless-steel cages, failed to avoid eye contact with their potential consumers. The white-feathered chickens go for $1.25 a pound, live weight; the dark-feathered for $1.50 a pound. People think they have a different taste, but Mr. Raghoo said they all taste like chicken."

Mark I, Matt and Adam (new kid on the backlot) delved into the trials and tribulations of Sleeping Beauty (Adam) a guest who fell asleep in the trailer home of Ted (Matt) and Martha (Mark) -- (maybe that should be Marktha). Well, anyway, to make a short story even shorter, Ted didn't take kindly to S.B. and wanted her to help with the chores, like feeding the hogs. Marktha berated Ted for being so rude to S.B. and implored him to show her a little kindness, but Ted not only kicked S.B. but also wanted to kick her out of the trailer. "Explain yourself" said Marktha to Ted, but Ted replied "I don't have to 'splain myself in my own house". After that, things turned rather brothersgrim and what happened in the trailer is better off staying in the trailer.
New holidays were added to the growing list of DUH approved holidays (a recent addition to the show and very popular with the audience whose job it is to suggest them) : "Everybody Take Off Your Shoes" day and "I Hate Monday" day -- hey, that's today!

DUH! In Frontierland, Paw (Mark I) and his son (FRANK) drop down into a well to retrieve Paw's pistol and then can't get back out. As luck would have it, a gunslinger (Mark III) happens by, who after showing off his expertise in shooting pistols and spinning them back into their holsters offers to help Paw and his son by lowering down a bucket for them to grab a hold of and get pulled to saftey but as luck would have it , the rope breaks! What to do? Well, (and no pun intended) time for a little levity ....

There is a really weird sociological phenomenon that happens when people hear a banjo.
It is often referred to as "the chicken dance" by banjo players around the world.
A banjo will be playing somewhere and people will all of a sudden jump up, tuck in their arms, start bobbing their heads and make these odd hopping motions while flapping their elbows up and down.
Just about anywhere a banjo is playing, somebody is going to be inspired to break out in a chicken dance. And these chickens usually travel in flocks. Whole crowds of people have been seen to jump up and start flapping.

Had a ball at the 50th celebration. Sure the line for merchendise was 6 hours long, but hey what treasures were to be found if you waited it out. Special thanks to Steve & Jodie was being such fun "Line buddies" and for finally getting to meet ya . CM Janice for letting us hang out in the Mark Twain Wheel House for a special trip around ther Rivers Of America. Gary for sharing his special spot with me to sort of watch the dedication ceremony. And to all the wonderful CM's who welcomed and brought a tear to my eye as I entered the park down Main street. Matt & Greg for doing such a wonderful job and for all your dedicationto keeping the Disney magic alive!!!! OF COURSE I CAN'T FORGET TO MENTION SOMETHING BILLY RELATED.
Big congrats go out to Dwaye for securing the spot in the green cast. You will love working with the funniest Billy cast around. All the best to ya buddy... have fun.

Not dead .... just late! Everybody at the Miners '49ers camp was raring to go today but NO Smiley Bob to be seen. All eyes were anxiously on the horizon when suddenly he appeared just in time to play the last chord (almost the 'lost chord'!). Those nice folks from West Covina were in attendance today and in their honor Grizzly Dave told about a dog he had bought very cheap -- "How come?" asked Jed and Dave said "Well, he was defective" and Jed said "How so?" and Dave said the dog had no nose and Jed said "How does he smell?" and Dave said "Terri-bull". Jed maintains that Dave was raised by a herd of bulls (I mean bears).
The serious business of the day over with, they all played and sang "You've got a Friend in Me".
Another day, another DUH, another Mark, who shall henceforth be called Mark III, performed today at DUH along with Mark I and Matt.
In a skit where Muhlan (Mark I) went to the dentist, Dr. Matt used a scalpel to deal with the offending teeth and nurse Mark III went looking for more instruments and found there was a piano in the office and a piano player (Hal) who was tickling the ivories. (This is the first time Hal has been in a skit! -- hopefully not the last).
While Hal played "The Girl from Ipanema", Matt went shopping for a wedding dress in a trailer park in Mordor. Later, Matt 'did' Lex Luthor's laundry while riding the Jungle Cruise (not to be confused with the Tom Cruise or the Penelope Cruz).
185 science teachers walked into a bar and the bartender said "we don't serve science teachers here" and the 185 science teachers said "Please, can't we just have a beaker?" (Mark III's)
A little girl named Alandra from the audience selected as the 'mover' stole the show when Belle (Mark III) and (Pocahaontas) Matt went to Mark I's Weight Watchers, and while they were on a scale checking their weight, Alandra untied their shoes.

DUH's adorable All American Girl Rebecca, wearing only a thong, hula-hooped using a cake donut with sprinkles as her hoop in celebration of a new holiday -- America Day.
Not to be outdone, Gail, wearing only a toupee, rode a roller coaster with Hilary Rodham Clinton.
185 logarithms walk into a bar and the bartender says "we don't serve logarithms here" and the 185 logarithms say "we didn't know that" and the bartender says "didn't you see the sine? .... or the cosine?" (Matt's)
Admiral Wolsey (Gail) and Dr. Seacrest (Rebecca) aboard a spaceship had a viral outbreak that was traced to a deliriously ill Captain Matt who had cooties and therefore had to be ejected from the ship.
Belle (Gail) working as a clerk at WalMart waited on Mrs. Potts (Rebecca) who needed some super glue to fix her lid. Gail could not get the glue to scan and called manager Matt for help who fired her but relented and sent her to work in the livestock section and guess who was there, too -- Elvis! Mrs. Potts told manager Matt she wanted to buy some of those talking dishes but bought singing country dishes instead. Tired from a hard day's night shopping, Mrs. Potts and Belle left together in a horse drawn carriage (probably borrowed from World Cup Comedy).
185 sushi's walk into a bar and the bartender says "we don't serve sushi's here" and the 185 sushi's say "we've heard that tuna before!" (Rebecca's)
On another new holiday, DUH Day, Gail went to Disneyland with Paul McCartney (Matt) singing a Beatle's song off-key (different!). Tom Cruise (Rebecca) declared his love for Katie Holmes on his knees on top of the Eiffel Tower (except in this case, it was the all weather sofa at DUH).
Belle (Rebecca) and Beast (Matt), married at last, arrive at Niagara Falls, but Belle soon tired of it and wanted to go to Disneyland but Magic Carpet appeared and they went to Funky Town riding the carpet. Belle decided her clothes were all wrong and Beast's pants caught on fire (Why? Suspicion points its finger at Lumiere (Gail) who never got along with Beast and stowed away in their luggage -- to be near Belle!).
The foreign movie was "The Little Mermaid" in Portuguese and Rebecca's Portuguese was an exotic mixture of Spanish, French, Chinese and Chimpanzee.
P.S. Rebecca said that Gail was just married!!!!
