Yeaaaaa so I'm getting braces.
Im 16 right now and I'll be 17 on the 20th.
So yea I hate this! I knew I needed braces years ago but stupidly I fought everyone and everything and now I'm stuck with the same teeth I had when they originally told me I needed braces. I actually remember the day they told me I needed braces(first time), I don't remember my age, maybe around 9 or 10? I dont know exactly. All I know is that I started to get teary eyed in the office and when I got home I knew I was NOT going to get braces. So anyway, years later, Junior year, I see invisalign on the TV. So I go with my mom hopefully to hear "yes! you are a candidate for Invisalign". Sadly no I get a ortho (unsympathic) who flat out says I need real braces. So yea, I'm sitting there, originally happy and ready to be fixed without having metal in my mouth. Yeah so Im sitting there hearing the words "braces" and not "Invisalign". DEVASTATING!
So, just like years ago when I first heard I needed braces, I start to get teary eyed. YES I know I'm 16 and shouldn't be getting this upset, but I am REALLY not into getting braces! So yea thankfully the guy leaves to do some talking, and I tell my mom I'm going to the car (choking on my words) and then I get to the car and start bawling.

Next, I go to another dentist to see what he has to say. So I'm thinking hey maybe he will let me get invisalign.
No such luck. I am sitting there arguing with my grandmother and dentist that I don't want braces! Somehow, he convinces me to get "Mystique" braces. They tell me they generally do not put them on the bottom, but its bad enough I'm getting braces so I KNOW I'm getting every single one Mystique no matter what the cost (knowing me personally am not spending a dime). I make it clear that I get the braces removed for my Senior prom and graduation.
So recently I just got my extractions, and today I have the spacers in, all 8. Whee. Not as bad as some say, but I do feel a headache coming on. This monday I have to get a filling before the braces go on Tuesday.
I originally planned to go into hiding, but then I realized I have work, plus school starts in september, so that isn't gonna happen. Sooo yea, Tuesday, July 13 my life changes FOREVER and I get braces. Hopefully they are as clear and blending as they are advertised, although the lady for Mystique has the biggest smile ever. I dont teeth smile, so hopefully no one will notice the metal wires (I still dont understand why they can't create some kind of clear metal but whatever :P).
Yea so I do regret not getting them earlier, but I still feel like I don't want them! I need them, but I dont want them!
Anyone have experiences with Mystique? How do they look? Is my life over? Thanks!
