  I've Added a link to The Crzy House where you can find information and read some of the letters that have been sent so far to the school about Robbie Kirkland.
  
  (Robbie was a 14 year old gay student who in 1997 committed suicide because his fellow classmates ridiculed and harassed him. This past Jan. 22, students from this school laughed and yelled antigay slogans "God condemns homosexuals" and "Homosexuality is an abomination" when they heard people at a rally chanting "Remember Robbie Kirkland." )
  
  I would like to get some letters from as many countries as possible so please forward the information and a request to all your friends who live all around the world.
  
  I still need copies of letters from Australia.
  
  ABOUT THE VIGIL: In order to try to schedule nationally known gay rights activists and entertainers to speak and perform, we needed more time. So the candle light vigil has been rescheduled when the temperatures will be warmer. As soon as everything including permits from the city are confirmed I will announce the time and date.
  
  The vigil/rally will be open to the public and everyone is invited.
  
  I have posted 22 letters so far. I will try to post an additional dozen every week. Please continue to forward the information to E-lists, message boards, and individuals.
  
  The school most likely will NEVER apologize to the family and friends of Robbie Kirkland. Help let the world know what this school REALLY stands for: hatred and homophobia.

  asking him to send her a current picture. Too embarrassed to let her know
  that he lives in a nudist colony, he cuts one in half and sends her the top
  part.
  
  Later, he receives another letter asking him to send a picture to his
  grandmother. The man cuts another picture in half, but accidentally sends
  the bottom half. He is really worried when he realizes that he sent the
  wrong part, but then remembers how bad his grandmother's eyesight is and
  hopes she won't notice.
  
  A few weeks later he receives a letter from his grandmother. It says,
  "Thank you for the picture. Change your hair style. It makes your nose

  Sorry I havent been around much. Been busy and frankly the cyber world has gotten a wee boring to me. But I still think of y'all.
  I am going to dive into my degree next year and crank it out! I am ready to get a move on. I had a blast doing documentary last fall and now I want to do a documentary on Medieval battle sites. Starting in the UK, nothing against the mainland just that the UK interests me more. It will be a few more years before I can afford to do it mind you but ya gotta dream!
  Anyway, we are all doing well here. Siah occasionally lets me on the computer! He must have every bit of dinosaur software on the market.
  I finally got through to Sal! I wonder why me ISP acct says he doesnt exist but my excite mail sends to him? deus ex machina?
  Well if any of y'all want me I will be in the bedroom reading a boigraphy of Geoffrey Chaucer. Nite all!

  Ahoy there everyone!!
  
  This is just a note to all ye Sydney-siders.... Okay that's me and Richard when he decides to look this place over :) But anyways.... It's almost that time of year again!!!!!
  
  January's almost over, so that means it must be Mardi Gras time..... Not that I'm a fount of information on the topic.... But one thing I sure as hell won't miss out on is the film festival... It's even on at Parramatta Roxy this time *gobsmacked*.... And you never know, I may well be one of the ushers that rips your ticket, and sees you comfortably seated hehehe....
  
  btw- status report on my outness.... Both parents, 1 sister, 2 school friends, and anyone who catches the train when I'm with Paul, or walks past us, etc etc.... You know this city aint so bad after all.... We get the occassional look, and people moving, but other than that....??
  
  I guess this means I should amend previous statements I've made...?? :) Yeah well, so it's nice to be able to be with someone and have everyone know that you're together.... But it's not like we shove our tongues down each others throat... I guess I just feel comfortable with him....
  
  Ohhh... Funny thing that happened on New Years Eve... We went to a night club... The usual one we go to... On the way home I was driving and this car pulls up beside us at the light... There was two women in their mid-20's and one was drinking from a champagne bottle (good look!)... Anyways she starts trying to flirt with me, and she wishes me a happy new year, and blew me a kiss, etc etc.... I just turn to Paul and said "Shall we?"
  
  So we started to make out in the car, and you could so clearly hear the girl go "Oh my God" and then I turned back to her and she was asking was that my boyfriend and when I said yes she gave me the thumbs up sign and said he was cute..... And her friend was just giggling.....
  
  Well we laughed about that all the way home :)

• Happy New Year Everyone!! -- Zeitgeist, 11:52:45 01/02/01 Tue [5]
  I had the best new years eve ever!! On paper it doesn't sound too exciting.... I went to a small gathering with some friends and we had nibblies and soft drink (see what a rager I've become...) and then we headed on to our regular nightclub, Caesars.... At 12, I got to kiss my new boyfriend .... We were basically kissing all night, on and off :)
  
  Oh I forgot to say that also, in addition to this brilliant night.... My mother asked me THE QUESTION earlier in the day.... And I didn't lie... She wanted to know if I was "experimenting" and I said flat out that I was very certain..... And she knows everything... Even that I have a boyfriend and everything....
  
  She took rather well I think.... Even tho there were a few tears.... She even made a point of saying that Paul (my b/f) is allowed over any time.... But he's not allowed to sleep in my room (rats!!).... But I was not about to argue on that point :)
  
  Meanwhile I have the best feeling about this relationship.... I know it will outlast my previous attempts because we really have a lot in common and we're both after the same things and our personalities mix well, and we're compatible if you know what I mean (wink wink, say no more) :)
  
  Oh I dunno what else to say.... I guess an update for my site would be appreciated huh...?? Yes it will happen.... Even tho no one goes there I'm sure.... But that's my fault for not updating :) Catch 22.... Oh wells.... I'll do something soon :)

  I'm sitting here flipping through what I think is the only good and yet decent-priced gay magazine in the world.... It's called DNA and it's made in Australia. It aims at the gay youth segment similar to XY in the US...
  
  XY to me seems a bit more of a picture book for boys who are too scared to sneak a porno... While other mags seem to read like a Womens Day or something... Ugh!! DNA hits the spot because it has a balance between the informative and the gossip and the pictures.... I also enjoy the writing styles used. They seem to be humerous, without being bitchy...
  
  It's only very new... Just 11 editions so far.... So I just hope they don't lose their momentum, because for just $7.50 Australian, it beats all the others on both price and quality....
  
  Now please understand I am not being endorsed by the good people of DNA... I just think it's a smashing mag!!

  I just realised why I loved the time I spent almost every free moment I had online here with you guys..... The complete lack of pretentiousness.... Or at least those of us who were pretentious were easy enough to ignore.... At any rate, it's the biggest difference I can find between you guys and the people I know in real life....
  
  Where do people get these attitudes from? At what point do they decide that they are the bee's knees and everyone else isn't?
  
  I was going to go out tonight.... To the same nightclub as always.... It has particular appeal because it's one of the few left in Sydney which still has no cover charge. And also it has the least amount of the forementioned attitude that I've found at any nightclub.
  
  The problem is, like everything in Sydney, it is an horrendous distance for me to travel. Reason #1 for me wanting to move out of my parents house.
  
  It was the lack of interest from both myself and my boy that led us to the mutual decision to give it a miss tonight. We could both use the sleep anyways....
  
  I tried to learn to play Civilisation: Call to Power once again. Honestly this game is soooo complexe compared to previous versions... grrrr.....
  
  So now I'm listening to "All Cats are Grey" by the Cure, which always makes me maudlin for some reason..... It is a very beautiful song that's for sure.
  
  At the moment however it makes me feel a lil sad.... I guess my idea of what a relationship was had been far too idealistic. I never thought I'd have to be alone on a friday night. I never thought I'd go a whole day without hearing his voice.... I guess the reality of the situation hit me hard. I always assumed that whoever I finally dated would have parents who were much more understanding then mine.... I guess I even relied on it....
  
  It seems a little weird to say it, but I really do forget sometimes how much society as a whole has a problem with it.... Like I'll go to kiss him, and he'll just say "not here" before I realise we're standing on a main street in Parramatta (a suburb west of Sydney)... It's quite numbing really....
  
  It's not like either of us have it really bad. No one actually treats us badly. But in the interest of not grossing people out and not offending anyone we have to censor our actions, our words, and often even our thoughts.... All this so the truth which seems obvious to everyone (based solely on the looks we get) isn't revealed in any overt way.
  
  For some people the idea of this never enters their head. There is a restaurant in Parramatta which our group goes to often. The waiters know us by our faces... We go there after our youth group meets, and we laugh it up and some of us even act quite camp.... It's quite funny to notice the reactions of the other patrons. Most are quite cool.... But some shift tables. This supper is always followed by our goodbyes on the street... Most of us will just say a goodbye, but my friend Steve is fond of blowing kisses.... He's sooo cute, but soooooo very very gay hehehehe.... He's a real sweetie. It's quite funny, because I'm certain that he has no idea what he looks like.... It's just natural to him.... And it never enters his mind that we're standing on the main street of what is the worst known suburb for mugging, etc in Sydney....

  Our latest attempt is the Newsletter. We need your help to make it a success. Read the newsletter mission statement and find a way to contribute.
  
  GWG Newsletter Mission Statement
  
  The purpose of the GWG Newsletter is to promote, support, encourage, and provide feedback for authors of gay fiction and poetry in all genres.
  
  That’s a simple statement, but it carries a lot of weight. Each month as a service to the members of GWG and AWW, the Newsletter will bring ideas, thoughts, feedback and inspiration for all authors.
  
  How will we do it? By looking at the issues that affect us as gay authors. We’ll look at the technical side of writing, such as punctuation, spelling, grammar, themes, characterization, settings, foreshadowing and dialog among others. We’ll look at popular word processing programs, and how to convert and edit in different programs. We’ll spotlight websites that can be valuable to writers.
  
  We can have interviews, an advice column and other articles by beginning writers just like yourself. We’ll look at other issues too, such as; How do you find the time to write with a full-time job? How do you overcome writer’s block? Where do you get story ideas? Why do you write? What satisfaction do you get from writing?

  This is the first time I have invaded the space here on The Seti Program but I wanted to share this with all of the gay community. If you visit the other message boards you have most likely seen postings from The Gay Writers Guild. If you don't know about us, you can visit our site at http://www.gaywritersguild.org
  
  We are a non profit organization that aspires to help gay writers. Every team member is a volunteer. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of those that have contributed to the success of The GWG.
  
  
  The Gay Writers Guild is growing at an amazing pace. Since the founding of the Guild in August of this year we have edited and posted 21 stories, for a total of 217 pages of text. In addition to the stories, The GWG also has 23 original poems posted. All of the stories and poems are painstakingly read and at times sent back to the author for corrections or changes and then edited for spelling and punctuation. Then after all of that is completed, it is converted to HTML format and published to the GWG web site.
  
  Because of the diligence that the GWG team members have taken with the work submitted to our site, some of the authors have decided to give us exclusive publication or they give us a week or more lead time. This speaks well of the hard work that all of the team members have done to make The GWG a premiere site for aspiring authors.
  
  We also have aspired to help authors that maintain their own web sites with The Gay Writers Guild Web Ring. The ring currently has 22 members.
  
  With the addition of The GWG Newsletter, that premiers December 1st, we are taking another step toward helping aspiring authors write better stories. This project was the inspiration of Archer. He also volunteered to edit and publish the newsletter. Quite an undertaking. Help Archer by submitting articles that will help others better themselves.
  
  I would like to take this opportunity to thank The GWG Team Members for their dedication to perfection, all of your countless hours of work are paying off. Thank you Marc, Christian, Lee and Archer.
  
  To all of the authors who have submitted to The GWG, thank you for having faith in us.

  Well, if strange things are going on here that defy all rationality, what could the goings-on at a certain other place be called?
  
  Can anybody explain to me:
  
  Why is it always the Shack where the battles flare up when a sizeable number of the people involved also visit the other message boards where they could fight just as well?
  
  Why is it that more or less anonymous flamers succeed again and again to draw people who are friends or at least on friendly speaking terms into a battle against each other again and again? A battle that goes on when the flamer had left long before?
  
  Why is it that some people go out of their way to flame people they do not like when it is so easy on the internet to simply stay away from them or ignore their posts?

  A few recommendations for the finishing touches to the SETI bd.

  
  

  In the General Forum Configuration area

  
  

  1. Make sure that the Reverse Threads box is checked - This puts the latest message at the beginning of the page.

  
  

  In the Form Display Configuration area

  
  

  1. Uncheck the always quote message in reply box. Otherwise when leaving a reply we have to erase the message that we are answering before leaving our own.

  
  

  2. Check the View Message (Confirm before final post) box. This allows one to change or modify his message prior to actual posting.

  
  

  3. Uncheck the Relocate active threads to beginning box - Otherwise when somebody leaves a reply the entire message is sent to the beginning of the page
  regardless of how old it is.

  
  

  4. Please change the Maximum characters in subject to 500 from 100 - this allows us to put forth our arguments where they are visible to all without having to click on the link - Otherwise it is possible for Duck poop of cosmos shattering importance to be overlooked.
