It doesn't matter who commits the crimes. The important thing is that God does not advocate those things, and those who obey God in their heart and mind do not commit those acts. Just because some call themselves Christians doesn't mean that they are. Just because they attend church every Sunday doesn't make them Christians either.
To say that you've "missed" the ways in which God has taught us to live explains your response. God doesn't teach people to deal drugs, rob, murder, or rape. Man does that because man is sinful, not God. Theoretically, if everyone obeyed God's commandments and lived according to his word, we would not have these problems in society. So then, would it be bad if more and more people lived according to God's word? Of course not.
So why isn't this the case in America? Because over the last 50 years, evolution has crept into our public schools and corrupted the minds of millions. Instead of living according to the Bible, we've slowly adopted evolution as our origin and therefore allowed ourselves to become our own authority in order to justify the sinful lives we continue to lead.
I'm not much for government censoring anything, even though sometimes their methods of censorship serve as a last-resort attempt for the protection of our youth. The kinds of censoring I'm in favor of are the kinds that come with parenting and responsible media operations. Rather than the government stepping in and saying, "Okay, you can't say say God's name in vain on television!" I would prefer to see the ownership of the television station make that decision based on moral grounds... based on God's word.
There's a misconception that living according to the Bible means going Amish and living under the mighty hand of an oppressive church. That's not the case. That's simply going Amish and living under the mighty hand of an oppresive church, and that has nothing to do with the Bible.
The Bible is readily available, and it can be read and understood easily. I read it, and I learn from it, and I live my life according to its teachings (to a degree. I am a sinner... I make no mistake about that.) There are evil people who claim to be Christians, and there those who live by the authority of God's word. Try not to get the two confused. :)
