I really feel it isn't just the "unofficial" scape-goating that is deliberately keeping Brian down in a deep musical pit. I think there is an "official" reason. Brian Jones was going to blow the whistle on the Music Industry's drug dealing. Naughty, naughty boy.

It's crucial for the industry to erase him and make sure he's officially unpopular. The Government doesn't want to be investigated either, nor have anything they did be discovered in this case. Secret services out rank local police forces, and can stop ANY investigation that might reveal their activities. People who hate someone, don't want to believe anything good about them, so make sure they hate Brian Jones enough to never get curious about those infamous "tapes" he was supposed to have made.

If Brian also had recordings of agents coming into the studio and delivering drugs to the band, and then proceeded to find a paper trail from the government to the music industry, he literally dug his own grave. If he could prove what they were doing, he was dead. I personally feel he was young and naive enough to not know that until it was too late.

When the Rolling Stones split with ABKCO, Alan Klein must have felt betrayed, after all the nasty thing's he'd done for Jagger and Richards, thus the bogus "investigation" where he "discovered" that his own man Tom Keylock had done the deed. Unfortunately, the cover-up was done by someone bigger than HE was, and his little "snit" amounted to nothing.

This is all speculation of course, but of all the scenerios I've ever heard or come up with myself, this is the only one that makes sense and I can't blow any holes in. I feel very sorry for anyone trying to honestly find justice for Brian, for as long as Secret Services exist, and Brian's discoveries still concern them, no police department will ever be allowed to reopen that case.
