I Just recently tried streaking my hair. Naturaly, my hair is light brown with a red tint. I didn't apply the highlight cream evenly so now my hair has stripes of light brown and stripes of an orange blonde color. Now my hair looks like a tiger.

I died my hair light ash brown. It is overall pretty, but occasionally it has a green tint or hue to it. Is there anything I can do to eliminate the greenish tint?

my hair originally was bleach blonde i dyed it black. Then wanted my color back i bleached it with 40 percent peroxide and bleach.......it turned out with white roots and orange hair. So i tried to use shimmering lights from sally's to get out the orange. I now have grey looking roots and throughout my hair and still have some of the orange. I just want my hair back to bleach blonde ....I wont even leave the house please someone help me sighs.

My hair is nearly black. I want it red and have been to many salons over the years. When they dye it, the color only shows up in the sun. I want it deep red. Sometimes they have bleached/lightened it, but I still don't see a difference. I am considering bleaching my hair, then dying it red to get what I want, but I'm a little scared to mess it up. How can I do this safely on my own, since no hair salon does it the way I want it?

I bleached and toned my hair from an auburnish brown color I'v done this before and had no problems but after the toner it is orangy-yellow with Purpleish white highlights and its starting to break! I had dyed my hair from medium brown to dark blonde. I didn't like the color (too orange)so I bought a haircolor remover kit and redyed my hair medium brown but the haircolor keeps washing out within a month or so. I dye it again the medium brown and it turns almost black with orange highlights. How can I keep my hair medium brown without it washing out? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Someone out there please help me! My hair is dark brown and I had to strip it blonde a few months ago. I redyed it dark brown and over time it looked ok. Then it started to get blotchy blonde streaks in it. So I just dyed it again to a chesnut brown and my roots are red. I have dyed it twice and still cant make the red go away... Hi there,

I couple of days ago I went to a salon and asked that they dye my hair medium ash blonde with bright blonde tips. However, I don't think the stylist spoke very good english because she gave me bright orange hair with bright blonde tips.

I thought I may just be able to correct this with a toner so I went to a beauty supply and bought Clairol Creme Toner 303 Champagne base violet......It didn't work my hair was still a ridiculious orange colour.

I then tryed to dye the orange hair a darker shade to see if I could just cover it up, Medium smokey ash blonde which I also bought from a beauty supply.

Still no luck its just a slightly darker shade of orange.

Any ideas i'm desperate and I have a photo shoot on monday!

I've been dying my hair black for almost 4 years, but now I want it out- I'm getting sick of it. I really don't want to strip it because my hair is close to dead and I'm afraid of my hair falling out. My friend told me if I put dandruff shampoo (head & shoulders/ selsun blue) in dry hair for about 20 minutes it'll get hair color out. Please help! I had the worst haircut of my lifa. The hairdresser cut my hair down to about 1/2". I normally have blonde highlights in my hair but my highlightw ere obviously all cut out. So, I went to the store to buy my usual highlter & they no longer carry it so I bought a different kind. since my hair is so short I didn't use a cap & this particular hair color had the brush to use & it said it wouldnt run onto my other hair so I just brushed it on. My natural hair color is a "dirty" blonde. I had my highlights put in by a professional and loved them. My hair has now grown out a couple of inches and is beginning to look bad. I can not afford the upkeep and need to figure out what color I can use on my hair that will not leave a brassy or bronze look. If I ask my hair guy he insist that there is nothing store bought that will look good. I have trouble beliving that there is nothing out there. If anyone has an idea please let me know.

One of my good friends uses dawn dish soap on her hair to remove hair color and she recommends me using it to repair split ends is this a good idea? i really seen it work with applying it before you reconstruct a bad hair color, but ive never seen it work for split ends. is this true or is she just misunderstood.

Hi, can anyone give me any advice. I have shoulder length bleached hair, very pale baby blonde, nearly white. I tried to colour it to a honey shade, but the dye turned it greenish tinged!! I think because my hair is so pale it hold onto the slightest colour. Im not sure how to get it a warmer shade? I hate hairdressers who always want to dye it darker than I want. My hair is in great condition. Any advice?

Today I desided to put highlights through my browny/dark bronde hair and turned a patech of orange. I went to the hairdressers and they could only add foils in blonde to tone it down and now it stands out with a little ellow and I look shocking!! Does anyone know if I can go back to a hair dresser in a few days for them to darken it a little even though I have had foils on it?

I also have blue eyes, so orange hair just looked dreadful. Yesterday, I used a box of L'oreal Excellence Creme to try to restore my nautral color. The result was not what I had hoped for, but it looked nice anyway. After one washing, however, the "permanent" color faded, and I am beginning to look like a firey again. I am terrified to dye my hair again, but I can't keep wrapping my head up in scarves and bandannas all the time. My hair seems extremely resilliant--it's still glossy and strong after all of the abuse it has taken this week. It is also very thick and straight. Although it is not even shoulder-length, it took two boxes of dye to cover all of the orange. I have recently purchased two more boxes of L'oreal, this time a few shades darker than my original color, hoping it will fade to blond. I'm just terrified to color my hair again anytime this millenium. Is there anything I can do to keep from looking like I set my head on fire until my hair is ready for more chemicals? HELP ME!

I have Light Brown hair (colored) and decided I wanted to be a red-head. I chose a Garnier productwith a light red on the box and dumb me, didn't want to be patient and do a strand test. My hair is like Clown red. My husband thinks this is funny. I do not. Should I get a box of Brown coloring? I can't go to a stylist to get this fixed anytime soon I have babies at home (twins) so can't leave the house easily and we are on a tight budget. First, my water at my house has really bad iron in it,, my hair always has orange streaks in it and I usually use a malibu treatment to strip it, it always does a really good job, never had any problems.Yesterday, I dyed my hair from a medium dishwater blonde to a blonde. But it did really take at all, after the dye processed my hair was very brittle and gummy in one patch and started to fall out. So i just figured it may of been the orange in my hair from the iron making it feel that way. So we decided to go brown with highlights. So we re-dyed it and now its still gummy, and I dont know what to do, i cant even brush through my hair :( WHAT CAN I DO? prom is in a week, and my hiar looks gummy!!! Please reply asap!

I was a hair model recently and they bleached parts of my hair and dyed purple over the bleached areas (my hair is naturally brown/black). It started to fade, and I wanted to go back to normal looking hair, so I went to the salon to get blonde streaks with my natural brown. The streaks turned out great near my roots, but the purple parts turned yellow-green. Is there anything I can do to take the green out or any miracle product that will get the green out of my hair? I need to do this ASAP cause of work. The lady at the salon said that I had to wait for my hair to grow out, and cut off the green parts. That would leave me with 3-inch long hair.

Hi! I need some help. I naturally have a strawberry/ light red haircolor and I have it professionally highlighted with blonde. My problem is my eyebrows are naturally really really blonde. I have been using a light brown shadow eyebrow color which looks good but wears off by the end of the day. I want to semi-permanently color my eyebrows a light brown color so it will look like I actually have some and it won't wear off. I tried a temporary clairol at home light brown and I can't even tell I put anything on them. Any advice???

Please Help me!! I am so mad at myself. I used a med blonde shade of hair color, over my natutrally light/med. brown hair, and got red! So I was advised to try and dark blonde over that to go lighter and remove the red. Now I'm red, and dark blonde (on the lower half of my hair.) I have had the same style for 4 years, long highlighted blonde hair. I am thinking of going to dark brown with lots of blonde highlights. Is this somthing fesible? I will pay someone to do it in fear of messing it up. But going from all blonde to partially dark brown with blonde I am afraid of discoloration and fading. I use the new Dove for colored hair and it seems to work great. Would this hairstyle be easy to keep up? Also I have long hair almost to middle of back, it is thin. What new cuts can I do, but keep it long enough to pull back(small children)?

So I dyed my hair black a few months back and I was ready to go back to a more natural much lighter color, I read wonderful things about Colorfix. I used colorfix and my hair turned to a much lighter orangish red (cool, its not black) I did the last step and my hair turned almost black again, I do colorfix again 3 days later and my hair lightened up and then once again the last step turned my hair dark again, though it is barely even a level lighter... My question is this: Would it be wrong to not do the last step of Color Fix (processing lotion which is basically water and hydrogen peroxide)? Would it be okay to just go ahead and dye my hair with the lighter color that I purchased? Or would the peroxide in that dye mix have the same reaction with oh argh!!!!!!!!!!!

Help! I went to a salon 3 days ago to have highlights done to my hair. I am asian and my haircolor is black....I told her not to put drastic color highlights to my hair coz it wont look good. I suggested caramel brown and she agreed. But the highlights turned very light! it's like blond or something like gold and it dont look good on me! I think it's too light. The only solution i can think of is dying my hair black again. I dont wanna go back to the salon and plan on just buying a hair color to dye my hair black again and lose my ugly highlights. My questions is..... how soon can i dye my hair again after having it highlighted without my hair being damaged or losing my hair? Also i have heard of people's hair turning green or red when they try to dye their hair back again.....if i use black color to dye my hair back, will it turn black or turn green or red? my hair was dyed black and the roots were beginning to grow out so i decided to go blonde(my natural color). I went to sally's beauty supply and they walked me through all the steps. the color lifted and the results looked promising. The problem is my hair is now a yellowy orange and my roots are platinum. not only that but my hair is fried. I've been using sun-in to try to gently lift the over all color but i hate my hair and am looking for an instant fix. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. feel free to email me your responses!!

ok here's the thing.. i've gone from copper highlights to a reddish color. after awhile i wanted to go back to my natural color which is a really dark brown just so i can avoid touching up my roots being that in the long run this all harms you. i did one box of nice n easy natural brown but after 2-3 weeks the highlights n the red started coming out again. I decided maybe i needed another box. but instead of buying the same box i bought herbal essence sapphire black b/c i had a free coupon for herbal essence.I knew black is a pain to get out b/c I once had black. But the box looked more like dark brown to black. Perhaps a light black? Whatever. I did it and it's extremely black. Not that it looks bad on me since i had it before but i'm so unhappy b/c this is totally not what i wanted. OK OK to get to the point i found this thing online called the one n only colorfix which is supposed to strip off permanent dye. before i use it i wanted to know if anyone else has used it before and how the outcome was.. if so PLeAse PLease PLEASE get back to me..

Hey! I have naturally dark blonde/ light brown hair...Ive been highlighting it for awhile, but last time (which was about 1 week ago) I tried the herbal essence kind which you brush on..it ended up all patchy and not even and with a slight orange tint. I want to dye my whole head back to a light brown but Im scared it will turn green...I used to bleach my hair and once I tried to dye it brown it turned a horrile green color :-O Do you think this will happen again since I only have highlights?? Hi there,
Looking for any help i can get . I have dark brown hair and I had a little left over redish highlights from a highlighting kit i used this summer. I was tired of the red so i bought a a med brown color to colr my hair back to my natural color, well it is to dark and almost looks black in spots. Can I do anything other than waiting for it to come out. My friend said to keep washing it over and over.

Going From Dark to light hair or to turn orange ect:
1.Use (just born blonde)at Walmart. It is a highlighter kit and is the samething salons use to bleach out the hair to turn it back to a normal shade. Just mix it up and apply to the entire sclap and hair like your coloring it leave it on for 45 min or longer, check on in 30 minites and every 15 there after until you get close to what your after or srtip out color. You can apply any other hair color the same day and it will not hurt your hair as long as you use the above mentioned products.

Bad perms or natural curly hair? Do this:
Use a home perm kit(No Rollers though) and it will return your hair to striaght for those with natural curly hair, it will only act as a temporary like perms do for those that have normal straight hair.

Hair color staining skin? Do this:
Put vasiline around the forehead, sides, ears, and neck do not remove until hair color is rinsed out then just wipe off and no stains!

I've heard that you can condition hair then cover with a shower cap. How long are you supposed to do it and how often? I use pantene pro v shampoo and conditioner. I'm a guy with short but highlighted hair. Would this benefit me? Do guys wear shower caps-is it odd for them?

Help!!! I had my hair chemically straightened about a month ago, it looks really straight which I am happy with. There is only one problem, I had colored it about two weeks before I had it straightened and now it desperetly needs to be recolored, is it safe to do this? The relaxing process really dried out my hair and I had mega split ends and breakage, my husband swears all my hair will fall out one day, but as I say we all have to suffer some for beauty right? I dyed it back brown and the other day I put hightlights on my hair thinking it would turn blonde some of it did but a lot of it turned an reddish-orange color especially on the roots. I dyed my hair black a few months back and got sick of it.
So I used a decolourant and did *exactly* as the instructions said.
Still ended up with orangy hair (which is close to my natural colour so seems the decolourant worked there) and Eminem blonde at the roots.

Am wondering if it's ok to decolour it again, and am hoping this will give it a more even blonde tone, so I can dye the whole heap from there without worrying about the colour turning out wrong.

Is it ok to decolour it again and will that work, or should I just dye the whole heap and hope it takes evenly?

Help would be very much appreciated!!!!
Especially as it's Saturday morning now and I need to have it reasonably fixed by TONIGHT !!!!!

I had my hair died black with red streaks nearly a year ago but i still can't get rid of the gingerness. I did not like the colour at the time so i had the red streaks toned down. Since then my hair went a horrible ginger colour and i have been re-dying it myself with different shades of brown. No matter what i do after a few days my hair still goes back to ginger. I've tried an ash brown as recommended by my hairdresser but it only lasted a week. Even though the red streaks have grown out the gingerness is all over. I really need help. Do i go a dark black shade? even though it probably won't suit me?? Please help me.

I found out the hard way there is a difference in ethnic dyes. I had my hair dyed at a friends (Afro-American). I started with grey/dark brown roots and faded red ends. Well, I was there for hours, it seemed the dye wouldn't take and finally (7 hours later) emerged with this ugly color reddish hair that is orange in the sun. I need help, now my roots are starting to show and I know a pro will cost upwards of $150 to correct. Is there something I can do at home to correct this???? Please, please help.

I'm desperate for help. My hair is naturally black but to get an even better intensity, I dye it more than most people would b/c it has a tendency to fade faster on me. Now, I am getting these wierd red roots in my hair. It's no where near my natural color. I use Revlon High Dimension Bright Black or Lumia. I'm coloring my hair in 48 hours, but it seems these red spots don't take hair color well. I'm crying b/c I'm going to see someone very important on Tuesday and want to look my glamourous best. 3 months ago I had highlights put in my medium golden brown hair. They looked good but I cannot afford to get them redone so I died over them with a light reddish brown color. It was too red in some spots and did not color in others. So I bought a medium golden brown color and died over it. It is pretty dark and very blotchy. They are dark reddish streaks and then a more normal brown. I just wanted a normal brown color. Will the red fade? I cannot afford to go to a professional. Any advice?

Elaine: No, there isn't a product to remove red. The red must be toned down, with an ash, as you were hoping to achieve. The problem is, you're buying a pre-packaged color kit which comes with the "commonly used" developer of 20 volume. I am assuming your color is a level 7 as you put level 7 ash blonde on your hair in an effort to "neutralize" the red. Yet, you indicate it is now a lighter shade than it was. You don't mention it looking any redder though. What you "should have done" to tone the hair down was use a "10 volume" developer. Ten volume developer will "deposit more" and lift less. It's excellent for corrective coloring. You cannot buy this in a prepacked box color set, you need to go to a beauty supply store that allows non professionals to buy products, Sally's Beauty Supply is one. As you mentioned your hair became "lighter" with the second application but not redder, you probably do not need to strip the color, simply apply an ash blonde using 10 volume developer. The Beauty supply should have "swatches" you can look at to determine what level YOUR hair level is. Do not look at swatches and pick a color to "color your hair" just make sure what level you are currently (unless you want your hair darker) and choose the same level in "ash" and buy a 10 volume developer. This is a "watch and see" exercise, you do not necessarily leave it on the entire color time. If, after 20 minutes, you rub the color off a portion of your hair and the red is gone, it is time to rinse and shampoo. Start checking to see if the color is toned after about 15 minutes. Check the spot you rubbed the color off under bright lights, if you still see red, leave it on and continue to check a different spot every 5-10, depending on how close to normal it is. (rub color back on the spots you removed for the check) Let us know how it turns out.

Last night I applied Clairol Ultress Medium Ash Blonde 7A to my (dyed) light auburn hair hoping to remove the red tones. Despite using an "ash" color as advised, its now just a lighter shade of auburn.

Is completely removing the color and then re-dyeing my only option? Is their any product that just removes the red tone?

I use Revlon 5A (ash brown) and I still get brassy hair roots. In looking for answers I don't understand the lingo that is used. Could you tell me specifically what to do and what to mix and if I mix it with Revlon 5A. This problem is driving me crazy. I leave it on for 45 minutes and still get brassy roots.
